BREAKING: Israel has ordered shut the Allenby Crossing, the only gateway for three million Palestinians in the West Bank to the outside world, “until further notice,” in what appears to be a response to the wave of recognition of Palestine by UN member states including key European allies.

He is talking about my friends, neighbours, family and work colleagues. This man is evil and reminiscent of 1930’s Germany. Why isn’t Starmer condemning him in the strongest possible terms?

An inspiring first day of picketing to kick off our 4 weeks of strike action! Faculty, students, AND a dog or two made an appearance.

Making the entire #UKHE system rely on student debt exacerbates all the inequalities: only those who can afford it can undertake career-building activities, others are scrambling to survive.

It’s shameful. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
After applying for "over 100 jobs" she landed a contract at a fast-food chain in the second term of first year. She soon found herself working about 30 hours a week - often finishing at 02:00.
With public transport done for the day by that time, Tiana would shell out £8 for an Uber ride to avoid walking alone at night - and to give herself more sleep ahead of 09:00 lectures.
Sometimes working involved making sacrifices.
"One of my friends got an opportunity to do a legal internship through this paralegal event that I wasn't able to go to because I was at work," she says. "I missed out on that."

Politicians who vilify migrants enable fascism. Pandering to the fears and resentments of those who see migration as a threat fuels the racist riots we see on the streets as well as the racist abuses happening through our institutions. We should be confronting, not coddling, this racism. It’s basic.

Your reminder that legislation to curb the rights of trans people to use restrooms or do anything else means everyone's behaviour, clothing etc will be opened up to intrusive and unwanted scrutiny and potential challenge in our daily lives. This is not a 'them' issue. Trans rights are human rights.

“Free speech is an inalienable right.”

Unless you want to protest genocide, refer to someone with their correct pronouns, criticise someone for being a bigot, boycott an organisation for their human rights abuses, etc. Then politicians aggressively try to regulate and police speech. It’s perverse.

“migrant” is pretty much a pejorative now. I’ve even seen them used “suspected migrants” like it’s a crime. I mean, my mum is a migrant you racist scum

Today, a human being was robbed of their right to ask for safety. We don't know why they risked their life to reach the UK - but we know the very least they deserved was a fair hearing. We know they didn't deserve to be punished for using the only route available to them.
Headline from BBC News reads "first migrant deported to France under one in one out deal". The word migrant is crossed out with "person" in handwriting style font above it. Deported to France is corrected to 'denied their human right to seek safety'

There is no "migration problem". The problem is racism.
