Congress must do its part to check the president's excess, defend against autocracy, and protect the right to vote. The people must keep showing up too, as we will in court. We must fight those threats to our democracy that we saw in all their ugliness five years ago today. My testimony here:

The colonial power present at the creation of Venezuela’s oil industry was Britain, not the U.S., and the U.S. companies that swept in later never owned land. Venezuela nationalized oil not once but twice, with Republicans in the White House both times. My latest.

Trying to overturn a fair election in an attempted coup against his own government is the very definition of TREASON. We can never move forward until this is fully adjudicated. #ShameOnUS🇺🇸

This is right, of course. And, imagine if a suspected criminal was sitting in a US city - we would never think it acceptable to kill 80 people to capture that suspected criminal. This only works if you think Venezuelan lives do not deserve the same respect as American lives.
A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.
