We’re thrilled to unveil two brand-new neighborhood history booklets: Hillcrest and Woodridge! 🏙️ The newly released booklets are more than just simple guides—they’re compact maps with striking illustrations and carefully selected stories.

Thanks for replying. Yes traffic is bad. However, every morning, we can tell if we're running late to our bus stop by watching for 2 buses passing by at the same time on the same route in the same direction. Every day. Same exact time. This is not a traffic issue.
Two buses on the same route right behind each other.

KEXP’s fund drive this week is pretty great (they are always great—some argue the station is better to listen to during a drive than during standard times). Lots of “Go Fund Yourself” stuff, and the “formerly supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting” bits are a bitter laugh.

What can you do outside of bus lanes that your agency can’t control by statute or traffic that no one can control? It does seem the “lack of enough operators” problem is one you can control, theoretically. How much of this years operating surplus is going into hiring more drivers behind the wheel?

I mean, a third candidate would win with RCV here. And watching Jack come in last place might be worth it for the lols.

Is there a definitive list of what remains? We have gone to Cox the last few years, I saw Miller claim that theirs are great. This is an article I would read!

Nowhere? How about nowhere.

Seriously, I gave mostly given up. There just sadly doesn’t appear to be a solution for this at this point. I just hope to find stuff through the people I am following (my well-curated feed of smart folks like you).

K-Pop Demon Hunters is legitimately the global cultural phenomenon of 2025 and honestly there are far worse things to be a cultural touchstone this year than a trio of young women fighting literal soul-sucking hegemony through the power of their art

Oh crap, it's back at #1 in movies again today on Netflix too. That's awesome!

Reminds me of every time I have seen something similar in DC. Just raise your prices if the costs of business has gone up. That’s how numbers work!

Hell yes, @wyden.senate.gov. More Democrats need to be talking like this.

They’re using American tax dollars to fund infrastructure in Argentina because that’s where they’re all going to flee when we kick them out of office

After announcing a $20 billion bailout of Argentina, the White House now says it's pausing $18 billion in funding for NYC infrastructure projects

Russ Vought would love nothing more than to tear this country down to its studs

Took advantage of my first opportunity to partake in unemployed day drinking today. Got to hang out with a friend and just chat for a few hours.

Never been to Other Half Brewing in Ivy City before. That's such a big space - it must be a wild party when it's full of people!

I really want to see a Transformers cartoon or comic where one of the Autobots is a Cybertruck, and all it does is try to transform into a robot inside parking garages only to smash its head into a concrete ceiling.

One infill station on a spot where a station had been proposed in the initial system but was ultimately cut to save money—that’s “ambitious?”

My god, this country has no imagination to do great things.

It’s funny how Randy Clarke never responds to these kinds of posts. It’s almost as if they think that people being critical hate transit, instead of being its biggest fans hoping for it to meet and exceed expectations.

I know it's popular to say if Stephen Miller got laid and/or wasn't picked on in school he wouldn't be like he is. As someone who didn't get laid and got picked on in school I'm pretty sure there is something more deeply wrong with him than tough school days.

There’s a 140-year-old farmhouse in Northeast D.C. known as the Sherwood Farmhouse. It’s been home to farmers, nuns, Jesuit radicals, and Howard theologians. Now vacant for a decade, its legacy is one of happy accidents, preservation efforts, and interracial activism. Tanya Paperny tells its story:
On Places: The Inhabitants of Sherwood Farmhouse Represent a Microcosm of D.C. History
Brookland’s Sherwood Farmhouse, built in 1885, has stood vacant since 2015, hidden from public view. It survives thanks to practical necessity, happy accidents, intentional preservation, and…

Absolutely fantastic! Thank you for the deep dive on this. It will be very interesting to see what happens to this whole parcel. I remember wandering around it 22-23 years ago when it all wasn’t so derelict.

Just the whole nature of the lack of democracy in the school system. I can’t imagine the status quo would last 5 minutes if more than 10% of the white parents in DC would actually send their kids to DCPS.
