I'd like to think that consumerism doesn't have a hold on me, but I saw what I thought was a labubu on the ground in the a parking lot and got excited. It turns out it was a pair of earmuffs, and the self reflection that followed has been brutal.

A day late, but the first time I heard Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was in the car with my family. My parents made us sit in silence as it played ("Don't talk while Gordon is singing") like we were sitting in church and not on our way to a Wendy's.

There's something oddly exhilarating about taking a creative and professional leap while the world keeps burning around me. It's like being chased by a bear—terrifying, yes, but part of me secretly loves the rush.
