I was sitting here thinking I miss when HBO had sex comedies cause now it’s just dragons and psycho rich people logging into teams and then I remembered Heated Rivalry is their sex comedy.

I know all eyes are on Minneapolis, but there's a fast-approaching nightmare in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump is revoking protected status for tens of thousands of Haitians living there on Feb. 3.

Reportedly, on Feb. 4, 1000 ICE agents are arriving to remove this population. Ethnic cleansing.

Kansas just passed a monstrous bill enabling criminal penalties and vigilante lawsuits for trans people using the bathroom according to their gender identity and requires them to surrender their current drivers licenses and birth certificates if it does not match their sex assigned at birth.

This is 1000% fact. Pretty much all my personal faves heavily feature romance + another genre. Hell, most Agatha Christie mysteries also feature a romance as important to character and plot. Just a few off the top my head; Thomas Crown Affair, Farscape, Jennifer's Body, Labyrinth, Severance...
I’ve said this before but a well written romance is the backbone of so many beloved films and tv shows across genres. If you take the romance out of HEAT you have no movie. Point Break, Brooklyn 99. A lot execs and writers now don’t understand this.
The assumption that all romance is trash for dumb people who like formulas -- that's still a thing in TV & film. A big thing. Also, like, I'm sorry, but a middle or upper class man is an asshole and is doing crimes or solving crimes? That's not a genre? MORE formulaic than a romance? HILARIOUS

Ocean’s 11. The romance is the spine. The heist and banter are amazing, but without Tess, it’s just about money.

Like 90% of action/sci fi movies don’t work without a romance. The Predator franchise gets away without one but we all know Lex and Scar—***signal lost***
Terminator, the romance between Sarah and Kyle is a pivotal element of the plot.

As I noted here, ICE's masks have given them impunity to inflict harm without consequences, just like the Klan.

And just like the Klan, when they're unmasked by new laws, they'll be weakened across the board.

Kinda surprised that no one seems to care that tear gas can be an abortifacient. I mean, there are archival papers about this which you can find by googling "tear gas abortifacient".
Both the writer and Broderick, and anyone who wants to compare me to a fucking activist, can feel free to get off their couch and get gassed by federal police so much their period gets fucked up.

"Hey, I've got a great idea -- let's do a version of this genre designed to appeal to people who don't like it, made by people who don't like it, either."
"Elevated romance" & "elevated sff" etc etc, I'm sorry but my entire life as a reader, critic & TV fan, all too often that's code for, "I don't know this genre, I've been taught to look down on it, my bosses hate it, but it sells idk?? People I guess like this stuff? So I guess we'll try it SIGH" ok
