One week to go! I am recruiting a postdoc, call ends October 7 🍃🌿☘️ In ecology, University of Helsinki is the leading university in Finland and the Nordics and the fifth-best in Europe (ShangaiRanking's 2024). And for 8 years in a row, Finland is still the happiest country in the world :-)

It's #ShowYourStripes day. These #climate stripes by @edhawkins.org show the warming trend for Ottawa, Canada. Let's all be part of the change to shift this trajectory.
Average temperature for Ottawa, Canada by year starting in 1860 to the present dav. Blue for cool and red for hot..trending hot

To accompany all those Bluesky science/academia
#starterpacks, let's share introductions to the literature of our different fields.

12 kinds of papers in Climate Psychology. (Created by yours truly using this generator: observablehq.com/@guillaume-l...)

#climatepsychology #greensky
Comic strip showing various types of climate psychology papers with humorous titles and summaries, discussing awareness, emotions, actions, and individual versus collective efforts on climate change.

This is my attempt to build a wild bee-researcher starter pack for folks to find awesome people doing awesome wild bee research!
Feel free to suggest yourself as I'm sure this'll start out as a pack of my collaborators and other admired researchers!

Please follow my list of Indigenous scientists! I accidentally deleted my first starter park -- but recreated it with even more names. Who else needs to be added?

My November climate indicator update...

Graphic available at zacklabe.com/climate-chan... ⚒️🧪🌊
This graphic shows four line graph time series and each are monthly from January 1984 through October 2024. The first graph is a 12-month running mean of global mean surface temperature anomalies. Anomalies are computed relative to a 1991-2020 baseline using ERA5 data. The second graph is monthly carbon dioxide abundance. The CO2 graph is the Keeling Curve. Current levels are 422 ppm. The third graph is monthly global methane abundance. Current levels are 1921 ppb. The fourth graph is monthly global nitrous oxide abundance. Current levels are 338 ppb. The three greenhouse gases show seasonal cycles and long-term increasing trends using data from NOAA ESRL. The global mean surface temperature anomaly record also exhibits decadal variability and a long-term increasing trend. All graphs are rising and shown in four different colors, including white, yellow, orange, and pink.
