I know I'm generalizing here, but it's true that queer people write freakier, weirder, more interesting horror 99% of the time.

We've confirmed the US Bureau of Prisons has transferred trans women to men's prisons despite three court rulings blocking Trump's executive order

“I’m continuing to be punished for existing. I'm a pawn in others' political games" -Whitney, 31-year-old woman taken to men's prison this week, told us

someone qt'd this with "going TERF rots your brain and destroys your prose style," which is true, but i think the broader important point this review makes is that if you view another person or group with pure contempt & no curiosity, you won't be able to write well about them, period.
"At best, the book presents a Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus picture of gender relations; at worst, it is a blandly regressive take on progressive Americans, who, in these pages, are two-dimensional caricatures sketched from conservative talking points" www.vulture.com/article/chim...
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Frustrating Return
Her new novel Dream Count suffers from the retrograde gender politics and bad writing that has defined her career of late.

Yearning for Reagan is a special kind of fuck you because not only was Reagan extremely bad for the country but he killed an entire generation of queer people and given how this country is trying to legislate trans people out of existence, if you believe Reagan is good kindly eat my shit and hair

Your mission for the next few years is to keep tabs on every company doing this and then pull that list out when being progressive is “trendy” again
If you're trans, honestly please quit doing doordash at this point because it could actually get you killed

seeing too many posts regarding the boycott from authors panicking about nobody buying their books because they only distribute through amazon. I would love to suggest taking today to ponder the nightmarish reality of allowing the biggest corporation in the world to hold your art hostage.

ALERT! It just broke that tomorrow, the Senate will attempt a procedural vote on a transgender sports ban.

It will take 7 Democrats breaking rank in order to have enough votes to pass cloture.

Democrats held very strong in the House and only lost two votes.

CALL YOUR DEMS! (info in next post)
Senate sets up vote to restrict trans women from women's sports
The House passed similar legislation in January.

this is jarod barbee, former publisher of deaths head press (no longer associated with the company), further demonstrating what a disgrace he is to the horror genre. think twice next time you let him near one of your conventions.

Look! It's finally here! After the longest, most painful labour ever, I birthed a book.

It's feeding well and gaining weight, but it sleeps with its eyes open and wails like a banshee if I put it down.

I wish more awards considered short fic collections. Not only do I enjoy reading them, but I also think a lot of stories fall under the radar, especially when the author is still unknown. Collections can bring those stories back into the light so they can finally get some recognition.
