Legit didn't know gyoza was an appetizer for a long time. Costco sold huge bags of potstickers so we made it as a meal with edamame and rice. SIL told us you're not supposed to eat them like that and we were like...ok but all our kids eat it without complaining so we're not stopping.
my problem with gyoza is that they normally come in an order of about 6, but what I really need is 100 of them

If being a parent has taught me anything it's that being eleven is so so hard

I started cutting my own bangs because I got tired of driving 20 minutes each way to get them cut.

I stopped going to a gym class I've been going to for 6 years because I was tired of driving 20-30 minutes each way.

This is apparently the year of taking back my peace which includes driving less.

Got the new @themountaingoats.bsky.social album and the first song is a whole other vibe on 33rpm if you don't notice what your record player is set to

My hot take is that Halloween is the worst holiday. It is not cozy at all. It is overstimulating, loud, requires me to walk around neighborhoods trying to keep overexcited children safe instead of being in bed (where I belong) after dark.

I've had occasion to hang out with the queer youths lately and they're all obsessed with Epic the Musical which has themes like *checks notes* "Ruthlessness is mercy unto yourself" and "I will stop at nothing to be with my family"

I wonder what ramifications this will hold in the future

Gonna set up my vassalage then join a Jacquerie uprising to fight for dignity and roast a knight on a spit because it turns out being a serf is terrible actually
I completely understand the ennui experienced by the average person in our modern age but it's very funny to be like "This sucks I wish I was a farmer in the 1400s"

Sometimes conservatives worry that people are becoming Trans or self dxing as autistic because they want social caché.

As an autistic person who lives with a Trans person I'm waiting for all our social caché to start flowing.

They are also intentionally conflating machine-learning and generative AI slop to confuse and try to make GenAI seem necessary. Google Maps traffic stuff is machine learning, not GenAI, for example. Auto-correct is too. Don't let them make you lose the thread. GenAI slop is slop.
the nyt posts this stuff like avoiding AI for 48 hours is hard and meanwhile i have literally never once intentionally used an AI program for anything ever

Spouse: I wonder if she got Frankensteined.

Me: Would it be Franksteined or Frankenstein's Monstered?

Spouse: The procedure is always named after the doctor, never the patient.
She hath risen.

I'm a senior developer on my team. I've rewritten multiple legacy systems and built more from scratch.

Yesterday I had to teach a customer how to scroll right.

You truly never know what your role will entail.

There's a lot of moms in my circle whose middle school kids want vivid hair. Getting it done professionally is out of our budget, but we want to support our kids' expressing themselves.

And we don't want them to experiment with those chemicals unsupervised.

It's time for my ice cold take on Cracker Barrel: Maybe the company is struggling because their food is extremely mid. Every time I eat there my first thought is "well, that sure was food".

Why am I going through 32oz of pickles a week every week

Doing math with AI is worse than doing math on floating point fields
Good thing no one uses Microsoft Excel for anything related to legal, regulatory or compliance business functions

You'll never make up the years you stay at home with your kids in your career. You'll never make it up in wages or experience.

Your can still choose to do it, but choose it with eyes wide open that if you get divorced in 10 years you won't get an alimony equivalent to the experience and wages lost.
