Listening to even liberal Europeans talk about immigration is enough to make even the most accommodationist Democrat go pale

Whole fucking continent is all-in on native ethnostatic herrenvolkism at this point and has been for a decade (real ones remember the shrieking to send death squads door-to-door through Molenbeek) while Americans are fighting our immigration cops in the streets

I feel like this “online to the point of being indecipherable” quality was also
a defining feature of their ultimately successful presidential campaign though.

White House policy is increasingly driven by (and aimed at) an increasingly small echo chamber of terminally online right wingers, which includes far too many of the administration’s own top officials. No one else can make sense of what they’re talking about much of the time.

Notable about today’s WH roundtable on Antifa, IMO: not just one outside law enforcement/public safety official brought in for it. Bondi, Patel for administration, but no police chief, state Public Safety Secy, sheriff, etc. Just a dozen right-wing “journalists”. …

I challenge the media to show pictures of Portland. Go to a store with glass. That's all you have to do

They can't do it because it would offend Deal Leader

Trump: "I don't know what could be worse than Portland. You don't even have stores anymore. They don't even put glass up. They put plywood on their windows."

it’s so cool how he has no clue what he’s talking about and journalists fall over themselves volunteering to help him understand their question

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

Honestly when do they run out? A big part of the reason the 1999 Seattle protests went like they did is the Seattle police ran out of tear gas. (Portland police brought them some more but it took a while.) There has to be an answer to this question though I don't know that we're likely to get it.

It is very comical that the day after Trump won Justine Bateman posted this very long thread bragging about how she was finally “free” to say what she feels about certain issues she was previously “silenced” about and yet still didn’t reveal what she supposedly wasn’t allowed to say. Still hasn’t!
internettheo.bsky.social
She still supports the current administration that embraces all of this shit though and it’s hard to tell exactly why because she’s really evasive about it but it seems most likely transphobia related.

Author and filmmaker Justine Bateman on generative AI
"They're trying to convince people they can't do the things they've been doing easily for years - to write emails, to write a presentation. Your daughter wants you to make up a bedtime story about puppies - to write that for you." We will get to the point, she says with a grim laugh, "that you will essentially become just a skin bag of organs and bones, nothing else. You won't know anything and you will be told repeatedly that you can't do it, which is the opposite of what life has to offer. Capitulating all kinds of decisions like where to go on vacation, what to wear today, who to date, what to eat.
People are already doing this. You won't have to process grief, because you'll have uploaded photos and voice messages from your mother who just died, and then she can talk to you via AI video call every day. One of the ways it's going to destroy humans, long before there's a nuclear disaster, is going to be the emotional hollowing-out of people." - author and filmmaker Justine Bateman from a piece by Emine Saner for the Guardian

I get that the term has a specific meaning and it’s being broadly misused as synonymous with “war” and “bad” but to me I could never push back with “technically it’s not genocide” because at the end of the day it could be accurately characterized as “close enough”

I think his outreach into right wing spaces on the issue can be effectively deradicalizing (particularly when he told that audience that parents of trans kids have personally told him that transitioning saved their kids life) more than I think what bluesky wants.
internettheo.bsky.social
He could easily not be seen as trans skeptic anymore if he platformed a trans person on his own show and gave them a space to speak for that community.
internettheo.bsky.social
Yeah a guy who’s not online just sees “Governor of a state where trans people are protected” whereas bluesky gassed themselves up into a genuine post truth space thinking he’s Sheriff TERF hunting down the trans kids.

Ok, so then will they be taking away traffic cop alerts on Apple Maps too? Or is it just the secret police who are protected?
But Apple's justification went further.
"Information provided to Apple by law enforcement shows that your app violates
Guideline 1.1.1 because its purpose is to provide location information about law enforcement officers that can be used to harm such officers individually or as a group," the company wrote in its removal notice.

He’s such an obviously lying nihilist clout chaser who has gotten one big thing after another massively wrong these last few years and you should resent anyone still stupid enough not to see through it. We’re all better off if we just agree to pretend these guys all died in 2015.

The movies I've walked out of (as far as I can recall):

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
The Getaway remake with Baldwin & Basinger
The Luzhin Defence
Breakfast of Champions

The one I wish I did so I could have however much of my life back.

They represent an institution and an overall elite now that seems to think calling anything racist is like this awful disproportionate slur regardless whether or not it’s true. The most self aware about this probably even lie to themselves that it’s the result of “woke overreach” or w/e
