everything kind of fits into place when "boy" (not male, anyone can be Boy) is the closest thing to what is considered "nonbinary / androgynous" in a patriarchal gender system. not fully a man or a woman, not free of gendered violence nor gender itself, the femboy, the tomboy, "unfinished",
the other part of the "gap" here is what "boy" means. boy is *the* gender of ambiguity under patriarchy - it's the collection of the man-to-be, the failed-man, the androgyne, the disguised woman, the girl-fag. boy's subordination to man is how you'd see queer men and racialized men be called 'boys'
