PM's possible pick to lead Bondi royal commission sparks pushback
Anthony Albanese has been in talks about calling a Commonwealth royal commission into last month's attack, signalling to colleagues he is preparing to renege on his opposition to the idea.

Why is the media staying silent about more than a thousand rank-and-file Labor members calling on the govt to rescind its invitation to Israeli Pres Herzog?

Is it bcoz they’re too busy making noise about a small group of former Labor MPs calling for a Royal Commission? #auspol

It feels pre-ordained. Rigged. The Australian establishment manoeuvring the nation into a subservient fascist surveillance shithole against the will of the informed populace. The newspapers moving in lockstep with conservatives and Zionists; the ALP capitulating wherever it can.

It seems likely that the govt will do a royal commission, so just know they Zionists etc will now shift to "we don't like the terms of reference" "we don't like the the commissioner".

The entire point of the calls for the RC was not to get one, but to be able to complain and attack the govt.

If Josh Frydenberg wants to talk about bad appointments for Royal Commissioner, he should start with his party’s appointment of Dyson Heydon, who was later found to have sexually harassed multiple women.

I don’t recall Josh raising any objections?

Sigh, here we go. Frydenberg would only be happy if either he or Netanyahu were appointed as the commissioner.

Frydenberg used the massacre to stoke his own political fortunes. Utterly contemptible.

Well said, Jo Dyer. An unforgivable act of censorship.

I appeared at Adelaide Writers' Week as an author when Jo was director. Respect and solidarity to those writers who have and are withdrawing from participation - a hard decision in these fraught times for writers, but the right one.

#auspol
As a former Director of Adelaide Writers' Week I am appalled that the Adelaide Festival Board has rescinded Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah's invitation to the 2026 AWW, explicitly linking its decision to the shattering crimes in Bondi.

A shocking decision that will and should have far-reaching consequences.

She will. I knew Virginia Bell when she worked at Redfern Legal Centre and I was a lowly law student volunteer. Her integrity and passion for justice had a profound effect on me, and I've watched her career since then, all the way to Justice of the High Court. She will not tick boxes.
Quite genuinely, this is why Frydenberg et al never wanted Bell as commissioner. She will no doubt examine real, appalling instances of antisemitism, and the extremism that led to Bondi massacre, but I suspect she will spend at least some time on the plain truth of Israel’s campaign for silence.
