Just a reminder: Spiro Agnew resigned OTD in 1973. His ethics and criminal lapses were risibly petty compared to what we see from Trump with each passing day. Consider just today's disclosures about the Trump family payoffs connected to TrumpRx.

The first phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal was signed by Israel and Hamas in Egypt earlier today.

The ceasefire will begin within 24 hours of Israeli cabinet approval, which meets in 15 minutes.

Interesting insights into thoughts on mass deportation in a @nytimes.com poll:

1. The message that ICE is out of control is getting through—by 9 points, people say the *process* has been "mostly unfair."
2. Despite this, people say ICE is deporting "people who should be deported" also by 9 points.
Which statement comes closer to your view about the process that the Trump administration has been following in deporting people over the last several months, even if neither is exactly right?

The process of deporting people has mostly been fair: 44%

The U.S. government is mostly deporting people who should be deported: 51%

If these first nine months are any indication, Donald Trump won’t rest so long as there is a single MAGA voter left employed. It’s hard to imagine a more effective way to strangle red state economies over the long term, writes @ryanlcooper.com:

The president told MAGA voters exactly what he was going to do in 2024. Now he is doing it.

But did we avoid dismantling core functions of the federal government? No.

But did we avoid killing millions of people by destroying USAID? Also no.

But did we at least avoid violating all kinds of federal laws & the constitution by letting random guys off the streets do this? Alas, also no.

Did DOGE save us $2 trillion?

“Not even close. .. Total spending excluding interest rose $220 billion, or 4%, for the entire fiscal year.” 🤡

Economically, absolutely. But a Pacific state that borders Canada and Mexico is more defensible. And Oregon and Washington deserve to be part of it. Hawaii too.

They grasp Miller’s theory of the case, and they are responding in kind, with their own war for attention, on the intuition that voters will side with the rule of law over authoritarian dictatorship—if they are presented with this as a clear choice.

Do Democratic leaders broadly have their own theory about this moment? It’s unclear. But here’s what we can divine right now: Governors JB Pritzker of Illinois and Gavin Newsom of California do have one.

I'm not justifying it, but non-voters are different from Trump supporters when you're looking at the future and who can be engaged or motivated. In any US election, far more people don't vote than swing back and forth between parties.

You can join us. You can make a massive difference with a small donation. It doesn’t cost nearly as much to run for office in Missouri as it does other states. We can fight fascism by eventually turning over GOP-dominated states.

We have been here since 2017…you make the difference.

I work with Blue Missouri because our organization writes actual checks to down-ballot Democratic candidates.

No one else does what we do.

Other organizations give training or advice or texting services. While those things are important, candidates need $ to reach voters. bluemissouri.org

More likely they didn't vote. The guy with DACA status didn't. Plus the Abstain campaign was only for primaries.

I do have less sympathy for his supporters finding out that a man who campaigns on taking away civil rights actually took away our rights. People who didn't vote ignored the high stakes.

Why? Because then it's clear which party is trying to protect healthcare and subsidies and which is obstructionist and doesn't care if people get sick and die. Fight harder.
