I'm here on my phone; a Samsung device. I often want to look at the comments inspired by these posts. I usually cannot. I'll tap the poster's id, at the top; sometimes a little below that. I'll actually see the comments less than 10% of the time. How do I access this stuff?

“I just checked—it turns out that Art. II, Sec. 1 of the Constitution of the United States does *not* say ‘The executive Power shall be vested in a bunch of sociopaths who think they can do whatever the f*ck they want and make sh*t up as they go along.’” — George Conway

There’s too much time between now and the midterms. Either the military needs to not follow his illegal, unconstitutional, international law violating actions OR Congress needs to STOP him.We are at a breaking point.

Some perspective: The S&P opened down -1.3% on Trump's Greenland saber-rattling. That's $750 billion of wealth destroyed -- roughly equal to estimates of the value of Greenland.

And so ~in dollar terms~ his shenanigans have already cost the US one Greenland, and we've got nothing to show for it.

Nuclear defense is why we built a base on Greenland in 1951. We had this idea 75 years ago. The base has been there since then. You don’t have to invade a country where you already have everything. Invasion just destroys what you have and much else besides.

A very quick and important read. Tim Snyder succinctly sums up what happens in ALL authoritarian societies. Take heed: Don't let it happen here!
Dr. @timothysnyder.bsky.social has written many powerful works, but this one stopped me dead in my tracks when I first read it. Please take the time, and share widely.

Anytime we've wanted something from Greenland all we had to do was ask and it was granted. Over the years we've had 50 bases there for military, scientific, whatever. Greenland has never said, "No." Please sign.

Tell Trump: Hands Off Greenland!
The majority of people of Greenland—a population of just 57,000—have been working for years to move towards full independence from Denmark. The island is considered an “autonomous territory”—it has it...

I know I follow a bunch of people here on Bluesky, but I now see a lot of posts by people who don't have much to add the situation(s) we live with. Maybe I'm lost in the cloud of dust raised by all those I follow.

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.

The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act is a law, passed by Congress on November 19 with an overwhelming vote. Complying with it was not optional. The Department of Justice did not comply.

I want to make sure this is very clear.

I do not envy the next Democratic president. The task of bringing all these criminals to justice while trying to piece back together the very foundations of our government and institutions will be daunting.

Trump and Republicans took $1 trillion out of Medicaid and Medicare and gave it to the wealthy in his big beautiful Bill. The idea that the country can’t support affordable healthcare for citizens is ridiculous. These are policy choices. The Republicans support the wealthy. End of story.

The only thing our taxes seem to pay for anymore is state violence that is more often than not wielded against us, be it the military or the dozens of "law enforcement" agencies.

How is that any different than a mob protection racket?

Energy transitions can happen faster than we think:

In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels.

In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.

I keep thinking those ICE agents are fake in many ways. The way teens, women, seniors ... well, people keep getting thrown to paved surfaces reminds me of the battle waged against stronger law enforcement agents on Jan 6. The disregard for the well being of other humans, citizens or not, is

Finally there's a line that even enforcement types ain't supposed to cross. "Ya can't just shoot stuff at people." True, but who'd a-thunk it?
LA press rights lawyer @susanseager.bsky.social: "Cops are banned from shooting non-violent people with deadly projectiles — whether they’re protesters or journalists. Because it’s illegal."

Good advice
Reporters: stop using the deferential term "detaining" when talking about ICE goons' abduction of innocent people from US streets. You proper term would indeed by "abduction", but if you want to pretend neutrality you could use "capture", which at least says nothing about the captors' motives.

Justin just sums it up for ya (ooops, Dr Wolfers):
Trade war update (Taylor's version)
The White House says negotiations with China are/aren't happening, that they do/don't expect to cut/raise tariffs soon/in a bit/never, and they intend to play hardball/softball with China. Trump and Xi have/haven't spoken, and they do/don't expect a breakthrough sooner/later.
