Izzy, once again trying to follow people to whatever social media they are on.
Playing an American word-drawing-and-guessing game while in Britain: I was supposed to draw Baseball Things. People guessed cricket.

There truly are very few fandoms I have been Really In where I can say I’m not into that at all anymore. It’s more like: I’m not in an X Phase at present.

love that software developers are advertising AI functionality in every single app now and it's up to you to try to figure out if they mean "this has spellcheck" or "everything you create in this app will sync in real-time to sam altman's personal laptop" or something in between

I'd rather wait and see what the vision is before I rip it to bits, rather than make a bunch of assumptions for the sake of a gotcha. In many ways, I'd rather an interesting ahistorical take that has a distinctive take, an angle, than a boring but literally accurate one.

Most Spanish words come from Latin, but did you know there are 2 different types?

Words inherited from spoken Latin vs. words borrowed from written Latin during the Middle Ages and after.

Some words took both routes, creating doublets.

Here’s episode 3 of my 10-part doublet series.
Next: Italian.

I’m sorry I just cannot forgive people who write “have” or “‘ve” as “of”. 😔

But reposts on Bluesky cost $0 - and they really help tiny teams like ours ❤️

Listen you could not pay me, at present, to travel to the USA. As a citizen of an ESTA country…the proposed changes for the information required on the application make travel there prohibitive. Forever. lmao.

I love it when a thing I read doesn’t make sense because the acronym it uses is associated with a Completely Different Thing in my head.

Love to see the Sedgwick County Zoo putting out a good explainer on why GenAI slop videos of animals are a problem & how to identify them! It’s succinct, easy to read, and doesn’t shame people for not knowing better. A+ useful link to share with family and friends.

The Reality of AI Animal Content – Sedgwick County Zoo
If you spend any time on social media, you’ve probably seen them – bears bouncing on trampolines, apes caught on doorbell cameras, or “rescued” wild animals acting in ways that seem too good to be…
