In recent years non-digital games have been explicitly included in the CFPs -- and this has been extremely important to scholars who study analog games. I remember many years when reviewers rejected research on non-digital games based as they were not mentioned in the call.

The call for papers for Digra 2026 is out! The theme is Intersectional Pleasures. This is great!

However, the CFP only mentions digital games. No mention of analog or non-digital games. I wonder if this is an oversight or if the exclusion is done purposefully.

Yeah, I would totally love a book on the history of, say, White Wolf. It was so interesting to read Outside the Box (a book on the history of the Swedish RPG industry) as it was not telling the story I already knew, just with different emphasis or with more nuance.

Keskittyykö Suomen pelikulttuuristrategia vain digitaaliseen pelaamiseen vai onko mukana myös laajempi pelikulttuuri? Nopealla vilkaisulla sivuilta en löytänyt vastausta. Kaikki kuvitus viittaa digipeleihin, mutta toisaalta koko ajan puhutaan laajemmin peleistä.

One of my favourite larps from the past few years is being rerun! The Future is Straight is coming back next summer. This is a pitch black comedy about gay and trans conversion camps, the first queer community for many of the people sent there.
