Home from a Harvard Square adventure, I think I puzzled my cat by not removing my coat, and instead sinking to my knees and literally rubbing my face in her warm fur. She stayed with me, though, bless her. Now, of course, she is asking for an early dinner as recompense. 🥶 🧊

Isaacman makes the technical distinction between an 'emergency deorbit', which this is not, and an early return, "controlled medical evacuation". The point being this isn't like a 'damn, there's a hole in the spaceship, get in your suits and undock NOW!' There's time to proceed deliberately.

Cherry on top dept: The CBS reporter whose last name is Alfonsi has the first name spelled Sharyn, according to Wikipedia (and its sources). The spelling I used, that I think everybody else has used, Sharon, is incorrect. In my posts here, this was a reporting and editing error. I apologize.

Folks, I have posted to YT a safety copy I made of a copy of a copy of Sharon Alfonsi's 60 Minutes piece about CECOT. This is just a small portion, and it is awful quality because I literally pointed my iPhone at my laptop screen. youtu.be/B7EGi5eYNrM

FULL success, as the booster lands on the drone ship, the second stage goes to its point and releases both of the NASA Escapade satellites headed to Mars. SpaceX no longer has a monopoly in any of this! This is a very important day in the space industry. 😀

June Lockhart was one of my faves...I'm so glad she made it to 100 and apparently had a good passing. Actress Christine Baranski thought so highly of her that she named one of her characters Lockhart. Thank you, June, for all the wonderful TV entertainment! ❤️
Actress June Lockhart has died. Longtime friend & family spokesman Lyle Gregory said on Saturday that she died at home in Santa Monica of natural causes. Known for her roles in Lassie & Lost In Space, Lockhart was 100.

God and nature have provided such a beautiful world to live in. Why isn't that enough for some people? Why do people have to create artifical images and artificial people in AI? It upsets me. Look at a bird, a flower, a beautiful woman, and base art on that as artists have for hundreds of years.

In seeking a pattern in why people support Trump, I get the feeling that it is less about him, or even conservative ideology, than it is about social climbing. Your boss likes him because his boss likes him, because "it's good for business." And therefore good for your career. But is it ?

Congratulations to Michael Fitzgerald, whom I have never met but have heard good things about. If I can ever get my editorial mojo back, I might even pitch the Day, someday.

Glad the Apollo 13 movie is getting reruns lately.
This scene is even more moving today: right, Tom Hanks playing Jim Lovell; left, cameo appearance by actual Jim Lovell (1928 Mar 25 - 2025 Aug 7).

American astronaut Jim Lovell, commander of the failed 1970 mission to the moon that nearly ended in disaster but became an inspirational saga of survival and the basis for the hit movie "Apollo 13," has died at the age of 97, NASA said on Friday.

Former astronaut James A. Lovell died yesterday at the age of 97. He flew four times: Gemini 7, Gemini 12, Apollo 8 and Apollo 13. He was my favorite astronaut - relatable and friendly, he did tons of press interviews to explain the technology and missions. RIP Capt. James Lovell.

CPB is closing. It has no choice. It has no money. This is terribly sad. The loss of federal funds cannot be made up by private donations. It is not the total end of public media, but it will hurt - and perhaps end - several PBS and NPR stations.

Hal is my oldest friend, now retiring from ABC News after more than 30 years, and is getting richly deserved huzzahs. Not everybody gets a nice goodbye...but Hal has grown new artists right behind him. If you have ever noticed a map or other graphic on ABC, Hal had something to do with it.

Was happy to be there for Hal’s rooftop farewell shindig tonight. He has been my creative director at ABC-TV News Graphiics for a long, long time. Best of luck on the next chapter.
