Working in enterprise #tech is wild sometimes. Managers really do make or break your team's productivity, and I wish more VPs took that seriously.

Cursor is the worst IDE I've ever been forced to use. I totally understand why vibe coders get made fun of.

Imagine reading a book and something inserts half a page of text over the sentence you're trying to read, asking if you'd like to replace the words you can no longer see.

Hot garbage.

Hot take: The default make target should a helpful message about the build targets, instead of kicking off a build that the maintainer assumes will work for everyone.

These 6 swing states are the Democrats’ best chance to take control of the Senate in 2026.

Democrats in ALL 50 STATES need to support these races.

This is the only path to flipping the Senate.

who knew there were so many colorful terms for folks under the liberal umbrella, that choose to drag down the group because it's never good enough?

Maybe AI would more palatable if their advocates were also a bit more palatable.

Instead, its loudest advocates have been THE most smug, insufferable and, honestly, stupid bunch of people we have seen in the past 5 years. On that principle alone, the tech should fail cos that's what they deserve.

I get that sometimes we all have to dip into politics and that we can't fully remove it from our lives, but I really wish there was an "off" button here.

"Underachieving but ambitious officials therefore fulfill the single most important requirement of secret police agents - a strong personal interest in compliance. Leaders who depend on a loyal secret police force can expect individuals motivated by self-preservation to loyally execute violence."

By the way, if you’re on the side of thinking that ICE is going to win whatever this “war” against the people they talk about…. They aren’t

And the statute of limitations goes past three years for a lot of crimes

The real question is, what dataset do they have in their possession in order to be able to generate CSAM? If their servers are full of actual child abuse materials someone needs to go to prison.

Trying to explain this simple point to people is impossible. His base is too stupid, and the ones that aren't, are more than willing to compromise to harm their perceived enemies, because they believe they will be harmed less.
If the US holds Venezuela, we will seize 17% of oil -- yesterday's technology. If China uses this precedent to take Taiwan, it will own 60% of semiconductors -- tomorrow's technology. See what happens when you elect evil & stupid at the same time?

Coworker: "why are you using *javascript* object notation in a shell script?"

What an insufferable pedant. I don't care if it was birth from the shittiest language on the planet - it's got rigid typing which makes parsing WAY easier than piping through 10 coreutils.

I think I like the idea of being a pilot more than actually being a pilot. It's a huge grind with dubious returns. I can see the dream the old timers saw, but aviation never automated and the complexity is too high for it to be useful for anything but commercial use.
