COMMUNIST: I want everyone to live without needing to worry about affording food, housing, and healthcare.

I’ve been waiting for this article 👀 Some really interesting analysis here, but I also have some thoughts.

In particular, this passage stopped me and made me think. It’s an interesting sociological thesis, and one that I think is really worth interrogating. (🧵)

The angst around Disney reminds me how proud I was to sponsor this @domaindead.bsky.social essay. If you want fresh IPs, diverse perspectives, queer stories, or trans art, you have to support indies, not corporations.

Queer and economic liberation are intrinsically tied. That's why they're scared.

The New York Times' long-running attack on trans lives continues to cause massive harm. @imarajones.bsky.social & @translashmedia.bsky.social have done crucial work to expose how Christian nationalists have used NYT as an agent for anti-trans disinformation.

It’s World AIDS Day, so here’s my reminder that more than a dozen states have HIV criminalization law on the books that disproportionately punish people of color, trans people, and sex workers. Most recently, I wrote about Tenneessee’s law here: theappeal.org/doj-blocked-...
The DOJ Blocked a Tennessee HIV Criminalization Law. State Lawmakers Keep Pushing Back.
The U.S. Department of Justice fought an HIV criminalization law in Tennessee, but state lawmakers have since fought the change.

*sigh*

Anyway, just create. Write shit, draw shit, build whatever you want, that's the important part.

There's no be-all end-all formula for the Perfect Work.

Just be YOU. No one can ever create what YOU create b/c it's you making it, and you are the only you.

You can never be wholesome enough to satisfy a bigot, so don't cut off pieces of yourself to fit the shape of their artificial box. They'll just shrink it after you do and demand you keep cutting.
I think we need "the good the bad and the ugly" of queer stories because that's the real representation when all kinds of shit have space to exist.
Because that's how it is with cishet stories.
Perfectly "wholesome" and polished "queer rep" is in fact an artificial vitrine, not real culture.
