Virginia State Senate Dems just brought down fire and fury regarding the “Compact,” notifying the President and Rector that UVA would lose ALL STATE APPROPRIATIONS if it signs and cedes the University to “federal political control.” Notably, their letter directly restates points made here by @siva.

Correction: a small but early free Black community, mostly settling on the riverbanks or with early fur traders. I was thinking of Pilgrim Baptist which was founded in 1863, so during the war. But it was also an Underground Railroad stop!

Drawing it full circle here: LaTonya was the person against whom I lodged a specific code of conduct complaint against for her transphobia mocking pronoun usage in the DFL Feminist caucus meeting a month ago.
The investigation is being conducted by a panel subcommittee of the CRBC led by Latonya Reeves. Reeves is the author of one of the original challenges to the Minneapolis DFL convention, calling for the revocation of Sen. Fateh's endorsement. Reeves later withdrew her challenge, choosing instead to participate and vote on the CRBC ruling which retracted Sen Fateh's endorsement. Along several other members of the CRBC, Reeves is also a voting member of the DFL State Executive Committee, which absolved the CRBC of error in their handling of the challenges to the Minneapolis DFL convention.

We are losing something by having newsrooms where everyone who has more than a few years’ experience has gotten fired. I don’t fault a young writer for not knowing about things that happened before she was born. But now there are no editors to help give context to these stories, either.
