Minneapolis did burn down and is super dangerous with the criming. Stay in your suburbs and do not come here. Also, you do not want to have to contend with all the bike lanes.

There are people who still think the cities of Minneapolis and Portland got reduced to ashes by BLM.

Once again, I’m wondering why Democrats aren’t running with a straightforward message of “despotism is un-American and unaffordable” right now and all the way into the midterms.

This is the horrifying thing people need to be talking about.

It is not hyperbole to say that if we lose the DFL governorship, more people will die.

If you give even a tiny damn about trans folks & other marginalized people, or want to keep MN safe, DO EVERYTHING to fight this & keep it that way.
ajm6792.bsky.social
There is a faction actively trying to kill the DFL in Minneapolis.

Which is obviously unwise to anyone who cares about state and federal elections.

Ummmmm fucking hello??? Conflict of interest? @dfl.org does anyone there even care about the implications of this??

The investigation is being conducted by a panel subcommittee of the CRBC led by Latonya Reeves. Reeves is the author of one of the original challenges to the Minneapolis DFL convention, calling for the revocation of Sen. Fateh's endorsement. Reeves later withdrew her challenge, choosing instead to participate and vote on the CRBC ruling which retracted Sen Fateh's endorsement. Along several other members of the CRBC, Reeves is also a voting member of the DFL State Executive Committee, which absolved the CRBC of error in their handling of the challenges to the Minneapolis DFL convention,

It's weakness. He's a weakling leading an administion of weaklings. He's dangerous, but the fundamental danger of fascism is actually lessened if you confront it directly and with courage, because every fash is weak and their instinct is to cringe.

Communities do not benefit by forcing laborers to subsidize capital creation. Exactly the opposite, in fact
catconlan.net
Incarcerated people are also your community. Tolkkinen out here arguing for Omelas.
The benefit to local communities is undeniable. Using inmate labor, they can build up the supply of sorely needed housing for area families. A few years ago, Alexandria gained two duplexes and a small house for people who are homeless or facing eviction. Single-family, three-bedroom homes sell to nurses or teachers for $100,000 below market rate and stay affordable forever because they’re in a land trust that restricts resale price.
Paying inmates a higher wage could jeopardize the affordability of those homes.

Either the police are mighty and fearless warriors, or they’re scared enough of a sassy 20-something woman to unload a canister of pepper spray in her face from 2 feet away, but they cannot be both.

Controlling the federal government (assuming you haven’t stripped it for parts) is a huge starting advantage, assuming you can hold it together.

Seems like the outcome of conflicts (I’m no expert!) often hinges on who has the most people, can make the most stuff and can get the people and stuff to where it needs to be.

I’m honored to receive the endorsement of @naomikritzer.bsky.social:

“Aurin… has both centered her work on progressive values and sought pragmatic solutions to problems.”

“I would, without a moment of hesitation, vote for Aurin Chowdhury.”

Naomi Kritzer’s blog

The tl;dr here is to vote for Aurin Chowdhury;
I door-knocked for her in 2023 and I have had no regrets about my support.

Aurin has only been on the City Council for about a year and a half. I think she’s done good work so far. Her accomplishment list shows her as someone who has both centered her work on progressive values and sought pragmatic solutions to problems. Her more centrist colleague Emily Koski has endorsed her, describing her as a “bridge-builder.”

I would, without a moment of hesitation, vote for Aurin Chowdhury for Minneapolis City Council.

I would not rank either of the other candidates.
