Just about ready to talk about seahorses and dad bods at the ADDA 5 Conference in Tilburg (Approaches to Digital Discourse Analysis). I'll be presenting a case study from my Dadlife project exploring fathers' constructions of familial roles and practices on Instagram.

Huge thankyou from me also to @nounfraze.bsky.social & @helensauntson.bsky.social for organising ‘Marking Milestones in Language, Gender & Sexuality Studies’. This was such an important day for taking stock of where we’ve come from, where we are, and directions we might take in the future. Onward!

This year's annual @lgas-baal.bsky.social event in Manchester was excellent - huge congrats to @nounfraze.bsky.social for organising it, & to @helensauntson.bsky.social for bringing together so many authors in the Palgrave Studies in Language, Gender & Sexuality series to mark its 10th anniversary!
Authors in the book series sit in a line at the front of a lecture series, with Helen Sauntson stood reading a speech. Behind them is a screen bearing book covers from the series.

Rodrigo Borba, William Leap and I are delighted to announce our new Bloomsbury book series Studies in Queer Linguistics! Do grab me or Bill at #LavLang30 next week if you'd like to chat about a possible proposal, or contact any of us on the details below. #linguistics 🌈🎓
New series: call for proposals

SERIES EDITORS:

Rodrigo Borba (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Lucy Jones (University of Nottingham, UK) & William L. Leap (American University, USA)

This series publishes monographs and edited collections that explore the connections between language, gender, and sexuality in daily life, focusing on how language users, regulatory structures (such as the media or government), audiences, and bystanders negotiate identity boundaries and reproduce or challenge social normativities. Books published in this series will contribute to ongoing debates shaping the emerging fields of queer and trans linguistics.

For more information or to discuss an idea for a book in the series, please contact one of the Series Editors:
