I'm curious how physically-demanding the work is? Like when you are 50+, can you still do it and, if not, are there less physical pieces of the job you can do at that point?

Revolution Wind can be completed, per a judges injunction against the stop work order! Will bring clean energy to 350,000 homes in our region and avoid stranding an almost-completed set of turbines in the water for no reason.

Hang in there…they can be very hardy!

I am really looking forward to this conversation with journalists, led by the amazing @metcalfuri.bsky.social.

Are you a journalist covering climate solutions? @jaimepalter.bsky.social and I have some advice for sharing these stories without hype, by balancing potential and challenges.

Online on 7 October 2025 at 13:00 (UTC-4)

A promotional graphic for an online event titled “Balancing Hope with Hurdles: How to Cover Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal.” The headline is in large bold text, with "How to Cover Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal" in bright red. Below is a white box with black text that reads: “Register via Zoom: ow.ly/H3fu50WWJhX.”

The event date and time are listed: “October 7, 2025, 1 PM (EST).” A description below states: “The Metcalf Institute and Solutions Journalism Network present a virtual, moderated training and Q&A to support journalists interested in telling nuanced stories on both the potential and obstacles of ocean-based climate solutions.”

Two circular headshots of speakers appear on the right:

Top: Jamie Palter, smiling with long blonde hair and glasses, wearing a red top. Text box reads: “Jamie Palter, University of Rhode Island.”

Bottom: David Ho, wearing glasses and a collared shirt, with text: “David Ho, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.”

At the bottom left is the Solutions Journalism Network logo in red and gray. At the bottom right is the Metcalf Institute logo in white, with the tagline “University of Rhode Island · Metcalf Institute.” The background is gray with a diagonal coral-colored section on the right edge.

When I asked the Assistant Secretary of the Interior why he stopped Revolution Wind, he couldn’t answer the question.

This is insane. Watch:

I cannot stop thinking about the fact that the Secretary of the Interior thinks that Rhode Island is somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.

OLLINS: But the Pentagon reviewed this wind project in 2023 & found that there were negligible national security impacts

BURGUM: In particular there's concern about radar relative to undersea drones...people with bad ulterior motives to the US would launch a swarm drone attack through wind farms

Rhode Island PSA: CVS will give you the updated COVID-19 vaccine. When you make an appointment (or probably by walk-in) you have to click that you have one of the qualifying conditions. That's it.

Great Labor Day opinion piece by my @universityofri.bsky.social colleague (and fellow Union member), @erikloomis.bsky.social. Makes a case for strengthening and amplifying union voices. Happy Labor Day, friends! www.nytimes.com/2025/09/01/o...

Could this type of event happen now? Seeing it as a little kid made me believe that people are good and generous, even the richest and most famous among us. We could really use evidence of that right now.

This extremely niche joke made my day! Though that movie looks absolutely nightmare-inducing
jaimepalter.bsky.social
Not the most egregious nonsense in his rant, but did he really say the drones would swarm the wind farm off Rhode Island and threaten the population of the Pacific Northwest?

I see this nearly-completed project on my way to work almost every day and my heart swells with hope for the future each time. Let’s finish the job and let these turbines bring electricity to eager New Englanders

I know it’s not everything, but it’s something: how each of us, in our little spheres of work & community, can help foster & sustain places of care, decency, & intelligence even when powerful people celebrate venal, coarse, mendacious practices. What a gift, to be able to do something so worthwhile
