In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.
It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.

The data for the yearly maximum for Arctic sea-ice volume should come out any day now. Right now it looks like 2025 will come in second lowest to 2017.
More important is the annual minium for sea-ice volume. That record low was set way back in 2012. Maybe this will be the year?
