The UK should rejoin the EU 🇪🇺
Another reason to support the Lib Dems
72% of British people support a Youth Experience Scheme - which allows young people to work and live in the EU. We asked young people if they would take advantage of such a scheme. Here’s what they said.

The new report outlines how YES could become a reality: https://bit.ly/493j8qw

It would take 8 or 10 years for Scotland to fully rejoin the EU. We would need to use our own currency for three years before converting to the euro. Independence would be another Brexit. We'd get in the EU quicker by rejoining with the rest of the UK

While there is a portion reserved, there has been £800m unused by the SNP government. We don't need independence, we need the Scottish government to use these funds to improve public services

Lib Dems want the UK government to create a customs union

Yes the Lib Dems were in coalition with the tories, but they voted against some tory policies. The SNP has voted with the tories a couple of times.

If you don't like this Labour government, consider voting Lib Dem 🔶️

Securing support for islands like Arran, Islay and Mull shows the committed community campaigning that you only get from the Scottish Liberal Democrats.

The job is not done however.

Our coastal businesses are every bit as impacted by disrupted ferries and they need support too.

Go on, Keir, give us a clue, your economic plan, what is it?

You’re not going to tell us but it doesn’t include undoing HARD BREXIT or ditching neoliberal economics.

DO US ALL A FAVOUR AND JUST GO AWAY. YOU’RE A JOKE!

"The UK and EU need to start that strategic planning now if they want the 2026 summit to deliver substance rather than symbolism"

@jannikewachowiak.bsky.social argues careful planning is needed to inject real momentum into UK-EU relations that achieves results

The UK-EU Reset Needs Strategic Planning, Not Summit Improvisation
Without careful preparation and raised ambitions, the 2026 summit risks becoming a missed opportunity to inject real momentum into UK-EU relations.

As politicians we should always put what's best for the country, for people first and adapt to circumstances. My thoughts in this weeks column: @scotsman.com

What the Tories are getting wrong about Labour breaking manifesto pledges
A manifesto should be a statement of principles, not a list of actions to be slavishly delivered despite any changes of circumstance

The only realistic way to take us back is via UK integration again with e,g, EU Customs Union. Secession then 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 entry entails a commitment to traverse 4 different currency regimes (full sterling as now, then 'sterlingisation', then a new currency, then the euro). Does he have a plan to manage this?

Yes, and the Lib Dems voted against some of the tories policies. Things would have been worse without the Lib Dems.

Norway, Iceland, Switzerland & Liechtenstein are in the Single Market but not the EU. Andorra, Monaco, San Marino & Turkey have customs unions with the EU for certain sectors. I'd prefer our first step toward rejoining to be more like Norway or Switzerland than Turkey. That means Freedom of Movement

Scottish gov can't blame Westminster for that because health is devolved. They could fund more vaccines but instead they're reserving funds for independence
