it should be a tell about what's happening in the media now that most mainstream commentators seem openly frustrated that polling does not blame democrats for the shutdown

-ok, everyone told me you’re the sluttiest gay writer we’ve got

-haha true

-Excellent. So Watters needs some banter about how sexy Stephen Miller…is…whoa, didn’t even know you could stab yourself with a Sharpie. Aren’t they too…ok he’s dead.

Fuck, fine, I’ll write it. No one wants to work

“Houston Street” remains the #1 dead giveaway I think, it’s impossible to guess
merriam-webster.com
What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

-ok, for today Watters needs some banter about how sexy Stephen Miller is

-banter about what now

-You know, a dynamo. A stud. Leftist women secretly want him, manly masculinity, ha ha I’m practically writing it for y—oh my god what’s wrong, did you eat something bad at lunch? Woah watch the shoes!

Someone on here recently asked why the anchors of the evening news shows are not doing their shows out of Portland and Chicago. Why is Wolf Blitzer not? I remember he was standing in front of a gas station screaming about gas prices during Biden.

I’m not a political strategist or a social psychologist, but to me this seems true and important. Values must be activated. Surviving a real crisis takes real leadership.
Highlighted: “We've learned, hearteningly, that majorities seem to harbor a deep attachment to liberal rights and liberties, one that instinctively recoils at masked kidnappings, at hypermilitarized vehicles on urban boulevards, at the trappings of totalitarian dictatorship. But this must be activated. That takes conflict and controversy-powerful imagery and language that rivets attention.”

Don’t see this campaign extended to their website, but the first thing on it is an entirely different image that also looks like it came from a prompt. I get that addiction services is not overloaded with money but it’s a photo of a guy smiling, come on

Not a great pic I took, to be sure. It’s got that look of being “photorealistic” without ever having been a photo if you know what I mean. First one I saw was on a screen, and it took a minute to even wonder if it could be real

the city of New York using gen AI for art in public service announcements—art, of all possible things in NYC—would be a real shit move. And I’ve been looking at these suspiciously glossy images for days and thinking there’s no way it isn’t. Would love to be wrong

Friendly reminder that the Prime Day art supply “deals” are basically a few real brands to reel you in (and probably just matching the prices at Jerry’s or Blick) and the rest is just Temu-esque no name junk that would be cheaper still at the dollar store.

twice a year the entire U.S. press becomes a marketing extension of a single billionaire-owned retailer, and nobody in any position of editorial power thinks it's weird or gross

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a person so racist they locked themselves in an empty room and starved rather than see a non-white person, yet this is our national policy for some reason

Janice just had an effortless cool, what can I say
The Muppets’ Janice sits at a restaurant table with a glass of wine, smiling her eyes-closed smile.

Nah that one guy with the glasses is a businessman or something, look at him. He’s not poor. Ah look, you just made me miss three episodes stop distracting me

look, the characters’ income levels are less obvious when you watch it at 3x speed for a tweet

I’m more of a chainsaw guy but it was good. Loved Kelly McGillis as one of the least flaky crystal pendelum people in the movies

Liked not loved for both of us, but also we were sleepy haha. Real theme for the 2025 October marathon it seems

thought it was a perfectly good haunted hotel story, and one of its visitations is as ghastly as it gets. Its characters are likable and well acted. But it’s still not quite my favorite type of thing, and I left with an appreciation for its scare moments and some questions about the plot
