fantastic song.
one thing about the OK House Of Reps I remember from my time growing up there:

they made "do you realize???" by the flaming lips the state rock song then Michael Ivins showed up with a hammer and sickle t shirt to accept it, and they PANICKED and revoked it lmao
The Oklahoma House of Representatives gave that girl an award for writing a terrible essay? For getting a trans person fired? This whole thing is an op.

It's a campaign of terror.

Her terror (and the terror of entire communities, forced into hiding) is not incidental.

It is a product they are manufacturing, a key part of the spectacle for their intended audience.

Which is the terrorized, but also the terror consumers.
Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

TRAIN DREAMS is the movie this year that everyone loves I and more or less totally fail to connect with leading me to wonder again if there's something fundamentally wrong with me.

it is beautifully shot though. and I really liked the scenes with Kerry Condon.

who wants to read this? I mean this utterly sincerely: who actually wants to read this turgid, incomprehensible prose?
Oh man! This paragraph is brutal. The best thing about this review is it's not trying to be mean. It's just listing how bad the writing is.

The thing about immigration is that xenophobia and racism are the elite centrist position. Here's a senior fellow at Brookings, spouse of CRFP head Maya MacGuineas, explaining the mere presence of foreigners in Germany is a "problem" that someone must solve with "speed and determination."

well that's unfortunate.
Chi Ossé had planned to primary Jeffries next year if he could get the support of DSA. But DSA (narrowly) decided not to endorse, due to concerns the race was unwinnable and picking a fight with Jeffries could imperil Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani's agenda. www.cityandstateny.com/politics/202...
DSA recommends against endorsing Ossé’s congressional bid

Although Avilés has been endorsed by DSA, she hasn't made a final decision about whether to run for Goldman's seat (NY-10). That's because Comptroller Brad Lander is also planning to run against Goldman – and reportedly would have Mamdani's support – and progressives don't want to split the vote.

Given that context, I think Avilés' op-ed can be read as an implicit case for why she'd be the best candidate to take on Goldman. Her rejection of Iron Dome funding and her invocation of the Puerto Rican radical tradition particularly caught my eye. www.cityandstateny.com/opinion/2025...

City Council Member Alexa Avilés – whom DSA has endorsed to primary Rep. Dan Goldman – wrote an op-ed arguing that Zohran Mamdani's victory shows NYC voters want candidates who reject AIPAC and stand in solidarity with Palestinians.
Opinion: From Puerto Rico to Palestine, now is the time to grow our movement
No matter how often our residents voice dissent to additional military funding for Israel, many of their representatives still vote to aid violence.

She's almost 80. She's never running for office again. Her ideological allies in the Party are dead, dying, or on the way out. Nobody has to give a shit what Hillary Clinton thinks about anything, and the sooner we internalize that, the better off we'll all be.
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

The numbers in here are hilarious.

Do you use AI on the job?
Execs: 87%
Managers: 57%
Workers: 27%

Planned investment by 2030: $5T
"Necessary" annual revenue to justify that spend: $650B
Current annual revenue: $50B
Three years into the generative-AI wave, demand for the technology seems surprisingly flimsy
Investors expect AI use to soar. That’s not happening
Recent surveys point to flatlining business adoption
