So, since my follower count here doubled this week, hi!

I’m a self pub transfic author who writes trans fantasy stories, available on itch, Amazon and Scribblehub.

I’m also a postdoc in media psych with a casual interest in transfeminism and trans studies, so I may post thoughts sometimes.

Like, I dunno. Literary critique and numerical ratings have never really struck me as compatible.

Even if they were a reasonable way of sorting merit/enjoyment:etc, which I don’t believe, numbers generally serve as thought-enders here. They invite people to skip the substance

This was so disappointing. I and several other tech-related academics who live in Boston tried reaching out many, many times, but nothing - her office simply did not want to hear about this one, it was completely shut down.
"Warren is well known in MA's LGBTQ community for showing up at Pride events and dancing around in a feather boa. But when her queer and trans constituents asked her to meet with us about legislation that could harm the most vulnerable members of our community, she wouldn’t even look us in the eye."
It appears that some members of the Democratic Party are supporting KOSA.

The act purports to be about protecting children, but it could weaponize Trump's FTC to target LGBTQ+ content on the internet.

Meanwhile, check out this heartfelt convo with @sophiajt.com on how trans books rekindled her love of reading and writing. Loved the book. We became friends from this podcast and full disclosure, now partners. But I enjoyed the book before any of that. 🥰

Me before writing Bloodstained Porcelain: I have no strong feelings about porcelain.

Me after writing Bloodstained Porcelain: The flesh is weak, and it must be replaced with pristine, perfect porcelain.

Anyway, pre-order my book at chimeratallulah.itch.io/bloodstained... for some great Doll TF.

Shibou Yuugi, the new death game anime,
has a schlocky pilot elevated by occasionally brilliant direction, amazing music choices and a slow, deliberative pacing that avoids jump scares or gore while emphasizing character and psychology.

And then the character designs give “hi I’m Tits McBoobs.”

Strong second on this rec! Team Butterfly Forever is something quite special.
Just read all the published chapters of Team Butterfly Forever by @opensketchbook.bsky.social, and loved it!

A *very* queer story about Magical Girls a decade after they saved the world and how they've coped (or failed to) with the aftermath of that

People thinking super robot as a genre is incompatible with traumacore stories a la mechsplo is low key kinda funny.

Like the edgy ones exist and are classics! “All my friends died in front of me and then the god robot declared us all unworthy and exterminated humanity” type shit.

TFW you are just going about your business and then "As Girls Go" comes up on autoplay, like Youtube, why are you giving me the skeevy lesbian chaser anthem?!

Okay, it is kinda a bop.

This just goes to show how vacuous all those concerns about preserving the status of the Western canon were. Plato is basically the main white-bust-statue guy, but it turns out he's too woke for universities if you actually read him

Thinking once again that people, particular online, need to spend less time talking for, policing, or speaking as/for “the community,” and more time building and being in communities.

This is why I was going on about this issue so much last night amidst all of the lamentations in the passive voice. A lot of this awfulness is self-inflicted.

A lot of us have left the media industry because this is what the industry has become… one has to wonder whether the Pentagon Papers would have been published today. NYT likely would have buried it

Anyway Tumblr was the original seed in the sense that it rewarded antisocial behavior in progressive / seemingly progressive communities, I think a lot of people have internalized that visiting severe abuse on another is fine as long as they do it in socially acceptable contexts

Periodically I think about being active on Tumblr, as a number of people I quite admire do exist primarily there. But every time I look at it, it seems like there's another massive transmisogynistic harassment campaign.

And, like, I'd probably be fine; but I do not need that prospective stress.
