Feeling fear is understandable. But we are responsible for our actions in the face of it.

I think one of the things that makes me the most Unhinged is that the government is dragging people from their homes in the middle of the night, ramming people with their cars and shooting them for fun, and everyone is just doing the same discourses we always have

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

I often enjoy @tastinghistory.bsky.social, but particularly appreciated this week's episode in particular for being the rare piece of popular media about medieval peasants that doesn't repeat the "they all worked less" myth or deny them agency: youtu.be/CFXuZAGEO5c?...

Great thread and a good historic lesson on how vital the freedom of movement is, which highlights how much concern we should have with a national surveillance system that flags “suspicious” travel patterns.
This Day in Labor History: November 25, 1865. Mississippi created the first of the Black Codes. Designed to recreate slavery in all but name, this signified the South’s resistance to the freeing of their labor force and the lengths to which it would go to tie workers to a place under white control.

So, it's important to hit the weak points obviously, but if those other two start to crack they're really in trouble.

* Anything to counter fear, bolster morale, strengthen resolve is good.

* Attack compliance. Refuse excuses, make it have real (social, financial) costs.

The more the better.

Mainly two things:

* Fear. Fascists sow a lot of it. It's their first weapon before anything else and they get far, far weaker if it starts to crumble.

* Compliance, at this point especially from liberals and centrists. They're getting a lot of this from other gentry and establishment media...

Re-upping this in the wake of ICE/CBP's recent defeats in North Carolina.
To review:

* The fash are weak on admin from gutting the state bureaucracy.

* The fash are weak in otg numbers. Controlling even one part of any major city is a real challenge, especially with any resistance.

* The fash are weak on legitimacy. They are increasingly, widely hated.

So what's left?

An underrated thread in "AI made this person go completely delusional" tales is that it's so often "Jimothy, a marketing vp with three vacation homes, became convinced he was the reincarnation of Jesus" and "Melyssa, heir to an airbnb barony, believed interdimensional gods chose her personally."

Hello #medievalsky here's my novella-length look at how peasants facing feudalism organized and fought.

Ambushes, secret societies, communal pacts, innovative weaponry, ingenious battle tactics and a whole heap of dead nobles:

Still one of the things I'm proudest of writing.

Forget your stereotypes about medieval peasants, y'all. The truth is so, so much more interesting.

This month is almost certainly gonna be a REALLY bad one, I’m a bit terrified, and any early help would mean the absolute world to me, seriously.

Thank you, and lots of love and gratitude.
I make very little dollary doos and live in a very expensive city. If I’ve ever made you laugh or think and you can spare a few dollars, please consider tipping!

This observation's been going around for awhile now, but liberals are no longer those who won't take their own side in an argument, but insist on taking their enemy's.
I think that in some deep way the centre left actually agree with the right's characterisation of them, that's behind all the angsting about Professional Middle Classes contrasted with authentic true working people which always amounts to two right wing cariactures they just agree with.

Imperialism reaping: Well this fucking sucks. What the fuck.

I feel like that "which way" meme for 40k fans with either a fash flag or the trans anarchist symbol is damn near every subculture right now. Clarifying times!

I'd also be lying if I said this wasn't an oddly fitting factor for the latter stages of various empires.
God it's so cool that so much of British and European nationalist politics has broadly been shaped by warehouse clickfarms rented by guys in South Asia running "how to make money from racist old people" workshops, and that this has had more influence on media and politics than any grassroots group

I deeply love winter, and am consistently enraged about what capitalism's done to it.
Nature: Winter is a time of slowing down, resting, conserving energy and recovering for the year ahead

Capitalism: NOW IS THE TIME TO SELL SELL SELL, EXTENDED OPENING HOURS, CHECK OUT OUR SALES, BUY EVERYTHING WE SAY YOU NEED FOR AN ELABORATE LABOUR-INTENSIVE FESTIVAL, WORK YOURSELF TO THE BONE

French producer: where will we find a castle set and how will we convincingly make it look on fire?

Kurosawa: Well I think we will build a castle and then burn it down

Producer: Well it'll be costly

Kurosawa: We will also paint an entire field gold just for fun
Toho suit: Hmm, how are we going to shoot this bit with 21 arrow volleys hitting the walls and him?

Kurosawa: Well I think we'll shoot him with volleys of 21 arrows

“The boxed materials aren’t Molotov cocktails, pipe bombs, or whatever MAGA officials claim ‘Antifa’ uses to wage its imaginary war on America. As prosecutors laid out in the July criminal complaint that led to the indictment, they were zines and pamphlets.”
