A theory. Everyone who cares about politics on bluesky ALSO needs to make a habit out of posting about their other interests and hobbies. Making bluesky work for many communities of interest will increase the political reach of the experts here.

One guest, a retired major general, was asked about Hegseth's dismissal of the rules of engagement. He answered: "The words the president and secretary of defense are those of potential war criminals."

That's a really impressive photo, even in the highly competitive #HillfortsWednesday category!

I like that #HillfortsWednesday is a thing.

#HillfortsWednesday
Old Sarum was an Iron Age #Hillfort constructed around 400 BC during the Iron Age by creating enormous banks and ditches surrounding the hill.

The site was then used by the #Romans, who called it Sorviodunum

It’s the Rainbow Unicorn Rebellion! Quick, get an Abrams tank! We need to shoot and scoot before this dangerous character gets our brave (appropriately groomed) men!

Streets are still closed off in front of the Portland ICE facility at 8:30pm. Protesters have gathered on a side street. Dance party in progress.

Wow. Pam Bondi brought attack notes to the hearing today. Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst captured them in these stunning photos that show her plan entire time was to try to smear Democratic senators — not provide actual information.

The First Amendment explicitly guarantees:

-the right of the people peaceably to assemble
-to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
-the free exercise of religion
-freedom of speech

If this priest had also been press, ICE would have violated all five 1A freedoms at once.

Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

Core 1A speech.

With cameras rolling, they’re sniping priests for sport.

How common are “survey professionals” - people who take dozens of online surveys for pay - across online panels, and do they harm data quality?

Our paper, FirstView at @politicalanalysis.bsky.social, tackles this question using browsing data from three U.S. samples (Facebook, YouGov, and Lucid):

Have you thought about creating an injury-weighted version of the graph? So to adjust for who is currently available, as injuries add up?

The federal government does and should have the authority to deploy troops into our cities—even without local consent—*when the circumstances actually warrant it.*

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com, me on why the real issue in Portland, Chicago, and elsewhere is the missing / contrived factual predicate:

"Forty-five percent" of US construction firms "report experiencing project delays due to shortages of their own, or subcontractors' workers."

A growing economic debacle. It does not have to be this way. Wise and visionary public policy can channel migration into lawful, orderly pathways.

At this rate, the #Broncos really might win the AFC West. On the schedule they have winnable games vs Jets, Giants, Raiders x2. Even splitting the remaining games with the high-quality teams—they’ll have a decent record, and the #chiefs and #chargers are good but clearly not invincible.
