If you hit a paywall trying to read the New European article on Gisèle Pelicot, this link posted by its author Jamie Klinger should work.

Read it, you won’t regret it.👇
On Thursday the 2024 issue of @theneweuropean.bsky.social comes out and they have given me the platform to explain why Gisèle Pelicot is my hero and how she radically changed the conversation about shame and sexual assault
It is my proudest writing.

Apropos, the best election postmortem I’ve read dropped today. It’s also more than a postmortem; it’s a deeper long-term analysis, and quite compelling.

The article is by @eladn.bsky.social and well worth the long read.

Makes me sad re-reading this amazing letter from ex-Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox sent to high school seniors in 1994 after they asked him “What should Americans learn from Watergate?” 20 years later in ‘94.

His answer is remarkable—unfortunately things didn’t work out so well in 2024.

News has just broke that Trump plans to eject trans people from the military within days of inauguration.

Trans servicemembers who have served 19 years will lose their pensions and healthcare.

This is obscene. They served our country, and will be kicked to the side like trash.

Are we to understand that no federal official is going to protect individual federal workers from the harassment that Musk is already enabling in his new position?

These are real people who don’t deserve the cruelty to which they will be exposed. The govt that hired them should protect them.
