Happy Hanukkah. I've been thinking about Leonard Cohen's Book of Mercy, his collection of contemporary psalms. One passage feels right for tonight: "Broadcast your light through the apple of pain, radiant one, sourceless, source of light...

The difference between rhetoric and action is whether you're willing to cosponsor the bills that actually address corruption. Right now there are bills in Congress to overturn Citizens United, ban congressional stock trading, and impose a lifetime ban on members of Congress becoming lobbyists.
Ending political corruption is foundational to achieving progressive policy goals. I am not accepting money from corporate PACs or AIPAC, because our political system has been captured by oligarchs who use campaign contributions to block policies that threaten their interests.

Six weeks after Israeli forces killed Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, Rep. Jake Auchincloss accepted a $24,000 trip to Israel from AIPAC's charitable arm, AIEF.

Medicare-for-all is essential because our current system is morally indefensible and economically inefficient. Massachusetts has the highest family health insurance premiums in the nation, and even people with "good" insurance face denials, surprise bills, and medical bankruptcy.

I've always been opposed to regime-change wars. In Dec. 2002, as a junior in high school, I wrote an op-ed in my local paper opposing the invasion of Iraq. The Bush admin.'s case for war was transparently dishonest, and I could see it even as a 16-year-old.

Universal Basic Income has become urgent as artificial intelligence and automation threaten to displace workers across every sector of the economy. As an AI researcher, I see firsthand how rapidly this technology is advancing.

Private health insurance is a disaster. Every year you pay more for less coverage. You can't see the doctor you want. You need permission from a clerk to get the care your doctor ordered. They'll find a way to deny your claim. The system exists to extract profit from your illness. Medicare-for-all.

Fall River and Taunton were once thriving mill cities, centers of textile and manufacturing that provided good union jobs for generations of immigrant families. Today, these communities face some of the highest poverty rates in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts has the highest family health insurance premiums in the nation — $3,600 above the national average. Since 2005, premiums have nearly tripled. 41% of Hispanic families and 26% of Black families spend over 25% of their income on healthcare.

The Supreme Court's Citizens United decision opened the floodgates to political corruption, declaring that corporations are people and money is speech. But the corruption runs deeper than any single ruling.

Rep. Auchincloss should follow the lead of Seth Moulton and return the $863K+ he's received from AIPAC since 2020.

The establishment has lobbyists, PACs, $815K from Big Pharma, and $863K+ from AIPAC and its subsidiaries. We have the people. Jason Poulos is challenging the corporate wing of the Democratic Party. Medicare for All. UBI. Clean up political corruption. Join us.

I will accept $0 from corporate and crypto PACs, and $0 from AIPAC and its subsidiaries. I support a constitutional amendment overturning Citizens United, a lifetime ban on lobbying (to break the revolving door), and a ban on congressional stock trading.

Larry Summers and Rep. Auchincloss (who received $3k in donations from Summers) are directly responsible for laying the groundwork for the Trump Admin.'s assault on 1A and academic freedom.

If a discharge petition can be used to release the Epstein files, there's no reason why it can't be used to ban congressional stock trading.
Here’s a no brainer: ban Congress from trading stocks.

Members of Congress should not be able to use inside information to enrich themselves at the expense of the people they were elected to serve.

I’m signing onto a discharge petition to put a stop to this.

The inability of our corrupt political system to curb the influence of Rep. Auchincloss's VC patron, an unregistered lobbyist for the pharmaceutical industry, is precisely the reason why Congress cannot pass legislation to expand Medicare drug price negotiation.
December 4, 2025 at 2:59 PM
@repauchincloss.bsky.social is exactly the kind of Democrat who enables authoritarianism through silence and complicity. He was among 75 Dems who voted for a GOP resolution expressing "gratitude to law enforcement officers, including U.S. [ICE] personnel, for protecting the homeland"
December 3, 2025 at 3:19 PM
A biotech VC runs a pharma-backed 501(c)(4). Coordinates 350+ investors to pressure CBO on drug pricing scores. Personally lobbies Congress on Medicare negotiation. Gives $146k+ to a Democratic congressman through his VC firm. That congressman votes with pharma every time. Coincidence?
December 3, 2025 at 1:35 PM
A biotech VC who maxed out to the Republican chair of the Senate HELP committee wants you to believe that only people who "understand medicine and innovation" should shape drug pricing policy. Translation: let the pharmaceutical lobby write the rules.
December 3, 2025 at 1:10 PM
Any politician who takes money from PACs funded by MAGA billionaires and caves to AIPAC on Gaza will never stand up to the pharmaceutical lobby on drug prices or corporate lobbyists on healthcare. If they can be bought on one issue, they can be bought on all of them.

Medicare for All and universal basic income aren't separate policies - they're two parts of the same answer to the economic insecurity that AI and automation are accelerating.
