Racism has been central to Trump and his movement since he came down the escalator. He is a racist. His people are racists. His defenders are racists. His supporters are racists. His party is a party of racists. If they want to disprove that, they can. But it's important to know they don't want to.

Very belatedly discovered the Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler album, and what a thing of beauty it is.

"Peace through strength". Not at all sinister.
Bessent on Greenland: "Peace through strength. Make it part of the US and there will not be a conflict because the US right now, we're the hottest country in the world, we're the strongest country in the world. Europeans project weakness. The US projects strength."

Whatever activist groups she may or may not have been involved with are totally irrelevant unless you’re allowed to be executed for your associations.

Sure London has its problems, but I’m not even rly willing to entertain that conversation since it’s in the face of such an onslaught of racist lies about the place.

London is the proof that integrated, diverse communities thrive living side by side. They HATE that. #r4today

The narrative about London crime is truly so BORING to Londoners.

Those of us who walk & travel around our city safely every day, every night.

The likeliest daily risk to Londoners is of being ripped off by our landlord or somewhere charging us £4.50 for a coffee. #r4today

Watched a chunk of The Princess Bride last night, and aside from it being generally wonderful, Robin Wright and Cary Elwes were supernaturally beautiful in those first scenes.

I've just seen Yaxley Lennon described as Ewok Powell in an IG comment, and that's the funniest thing I've seen all week.

This is who you are in bed with.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Watched Del Toro’s Frankenstein last night which I liked a lot, but disappointed to have seen no acknowledgement anywhere of how obviously they were led by Berni Wrightson’s illustrations from the 70s & 80s on the creature design. Have to say the costumes were stunning though.

Is there a prominent Brexiter left who hasn’t torn off their mask to reveal the rancid racism beneath? Boris Johnson’s chief fluffer accusing anyone else of being over-promoted is peak process. The bitterness of insanely privileged men with empty souls knows no bounds.
For anyone still tempted to take Dominic Cummings at all seriously, he's now an advocate of Donald Trump-style open racism.

What if we gave the worst people in the world, the people who are just fundamentally assholes, all the power? What an experiment.

I would rather live next door to someone who speaks another language than live next door to someone who doesn’t want to live near people who speak other languages. I know nothing about Person A but I know person B is a shitbird.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

I’ve realised I’m old as I’m listening to a Shirley Bassey album. But the string arrangements by Johnny Harris are just gorgeous, in a uniquely early 70’s way. You could remove her voice and still know exactly when it was recorded and I love that.

Proscribing Palestine Action can’t hold.

They’re not a terrorist organisation, and nobody thinks they are.

A vast (and increasing) swathe of the population support their cause.

Policing requires consent and that requires a majority acceptance of the law, but most people think this law is an ass.
