It’s not about legal immigration. They also canceled over 1600 flights for Afghan REFUGEES. My family lives in a refugee city and it’s makes our city safe and beautiful. Low crime. Kids don’t even lock up their bikes! Refugees are not dangerous. Immigrants are not dangerous.

This was also a frustration for me during my time as a professor but it most often presented as a feature of identity politics. I can only say this now that I’ve left higher ed, but my honest feeling is that it was most often used as a tool for insecure people to leverage power. (Unfortunately)
I don't know quite how to pin this down but one of the problems I'm seeing with emotional safety emerging as a cultural category is that it's really useful for overstatement of harm.

I think it’s pretty clear: Leftist elites have been harvesting the blood of children to mix with V8 so they can make a super-vitamin that gives them x-ray vision when they’re under water. That’s why the NASA faked the moon landing. It’s all so obvious.
