It’s not even just the name butchering. It was the ramp that was a million miles long. Nobody being introduced properly (I don’t think hosts Bradford or Shawl were EVER introduced). Baffling technical issues with the stream. Poor sound mixing. Etc.
Just a mess, and the finalists deserved better.

As respectfully as possible, if you are a Hugo MC it is your actual job to make sure you have the pronunciations of the people you are celebrating down. If you don’t get given a list from Worldcon you need to make your own or demand one in time to learn.

Sometimes I let my wife read my stuff before I publish it. Her feedback is usually uh pretty harsh but she's also usually correct. The upside is very occasionally when she says it's good, I believe her.

People should have recourse when employers rescind job offers. I may have to wait until January or even next August to find work now because a school district ghosted me.

Got a job offer last week. No follow up messaging about onboarding. Called them today to ask what was up. Apparently they rescinded my offer and did not tell me. I have been declining other offers.

I find that my cyber truck looks nicest after I've washed it with salt water and lemon juice. Gives it a nice lustrous gloss.
