In honor of Nancy Drew's entry into the public domain, here's a piece on how librarians themselves were the ones to keep her off the shelves for many years.

This piece was a bonus piece for donors as part of our 2022 History & Mystery series, but now it's for everyone!
The Case of the Empty Bookshelves
Why were librarians keeping the titian-haired detective off their shelves?

I’ve moved to @pagebound.bsky.social for reading tracking 📚

Super easy to move my library from Goodreads, super social, and the quest features are excellent — feels like a real upgrade.

2026 reading goal: reduce my physical TBR from 114 to 50.

Christmas book vouchers are gone, so I’m on a strict book-buying ban until further notice 📚

I’m convinced Fiona is the secret traitor, but an argument definitely could be made for Sam. His confessionals are just seem a little off, and they keep playing the twist sound effect when he speaks….

According to YouGov, 40% of Britons have not read or listened to a book in the past year. Of the remainder, 22% read 1-5 books per year and 4% (me) read more than 50 books.

If that's you, please stop doomscrolling and open a book. Let's each recommend a title.

Sad news - I reread The Perks of Being a Wallflower for the first time in ten years, and it didn’t hold up as well as I remember it being.

It was fun to revisit though, and interesting to see just how different my reading tastes are now compared to teenage me.

My (not a reader) boyfriend just finished the book I bought him for Christmas in record time. Feeling a strange sense of pride in my book buying abilities.

(For those interested, it was This Way Up by the brilliant @jayforeman.bsky.social and @markcooperjones.bsky.social)

Playground politics really deserves its own field of study.

Finished Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty last night - brilliantly written, fun characters, and packed with posh primary school drama.

A total page-turner to kick off the new year: 5 ⭐️
