I hope Trudeau keeps saying, "no."
I hope everyone keeps saying, "no."

You're telling me that today's zeitgeist wants me to

1. Know how Fortnite works
2. Know how Twitch works
3. Understand that Elon Musk has a long-running alt account named Adrian Dittman
4. Acknowledge the existence of a video game twitch streamer called "ConnorEatsPants"

Celebrating the end of the semester! Final exam done, final paper submitted. I'm done until the winter term starts in January. That being said, does anyone have recommendations for an #ethnobotany textbook? #wroclaw #horticulture

I wrote about this idea a while back. Not using recipes and being able to freestyle with what you have should be the goal. But without some foundational skills and knowledge, recipes are still the best way to learn. www.theguardian.com/food/2024/no...
The new foodie rules: bring me a bottle of olive oil, and for God’s sake don’t follow a recipe
As a Waitrose report reveals that high-end, beautifully packaged groceries are the must-have gift, a food-lover heartily applauds the new trend

Six decades later, Star Trek may still be the only franchise based on the ideas that diversity is strength, justice is the measure of civilization, bounty is to be shared, peace is worth the price, and all these things can be achieved.

We need more shows that look ahead and find goodness.

I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever.

I work as a marketer in IT and the amount of "hype" for these data centers from companies that are supposed to be aiming for carbon neutral operations in the next 5-10 years is disgusting.

"If a woman doesn't look woman enough to a Republican, they want to be able to inspect your genitals to use a bathroom? It's disgusting.

Everyone should reject it completely... they're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kind, and everyone should reject it. It's gross." - AOC

🌱 Leave the leaves. The best place for the leaves is where they fall. If you leave them in your flowerbeds they wont get up and burglarize your house or anything...
They actually help the soil and insects over winter.

Listening to 90s music in 2024 is an exact equivalent to your mom listening to music from 1964-1974 when you were a kid in 1999.

Happy Saturday.
The soundtrack to the year 1999 is Blink-182's "All The Small Things"

Also that was 25 years ago.

Happy Saturday.

A much needed night off from studying, from the news, from life in general, because it all seems so overwhelming at the moment. I'm grateful for the support I have, for the people in my life, and resilience in the face of adversity, whether personal or societal.

You're all rock stars 🌟

Mississippi is the poorest state in the US.

Even though the state gets federal welfare funds, it is difficult to get welfare.

The money was all getting stolen, and they got away with it.

Now the journalists who exposed the story are facing a lawsuit and jail.

"The rabbit's got the gun now," said a lawyer for former Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant, who is trying to force reporter Anna Wolfe to reveal her sources.

🌍 It's real
👥 It's human-caused
⚠️ It's serious
💡 With immediate action, it's solvable
⌛ Later is too late

* social science shows these msgs increase acceptance of the issue, awareness of the risk and, most importantly, willingness to act.
