Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.
And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

I think what drives a lot of my depression is that l live my values the best I can, try to be reflective when I’m wrong, and just be the most ‘me’ all the time, and few if any people seem to be interested in being around me by choice.
