My education is electrical engineer and for many years I've worked on electrical activity of nerves, muscles, and other tissues.

Every cell in our body is also a little electrical factory. From the fertilization of the egg until the death, we are basically electrical beings.
Schematic description of the development of a nerve impulse in an axon (nerve cell). In resting state, there is a voltage over the cell membrane. By an external stimulus, ion channels open up and the voltage breaks locally down. This triggers the opening of neighbouring ion channels, where also the voltage breaks down. In this way, like in a domino effect, the impulse travels along the axon. After a few milliseconds the voltage over a depolarised area is recovered by active ion pumps and the nerve could be excited again.

Together with the intrinsic instability of microtubules, MAP expression leads to highly dynamic microtubule arrays that are locally regulated and undergo rapid transitions, making it imperative to develop ways to capture them with high spatiotemporal resolution. (B) Super-resolution microscopy enables nanometer-scale visualization of microtubule networks, overcoming the resolution limits of conventional microscopy.
