Allotment, cooking, history. Boring?
The trump plaque things are utterly mad.

"Trade with the rest of the world" is perhaps the worst aged Brexit mantra.

"Free trade" in the era of sanctions, tariffs, trade wars and espionage.
Enter the Brexit Taliban.

I don’t like those things like cheese toasters in Costa that you pick out and they heat up. Even if it’s false, I like the illusion that someone behind the scenes is doing some cooking.

I think the accepted wisdom that the American orange cheese slices are the best thing you can put on a burger is just bad. We can do better

Formula is so much more expensive than I expected. I didn’t know ‘loyalty points’ weren’t applicable… how bizarre.
The right wing British politics twitter reaction/the policy.

I wish I was making this up.

In theory I should love marmalade. But I just can’t. I associate it too much with the elderly

What does he mean by ‘immaculately consummated’? I know the words separately, and I understand the context of immaculate conception, but it just seems like an odd phrase to use, especially (presumably) pejoratively.
there's a lot to unpack here Lord Glasman

It’s a deeply unpopular view on here, but hardly a stretch, to believe that AI pictures in the ‘style’ of Van Gogh are worthless, whilst also seeing there are legitimate applications for it!
watched the chris mccausland documentary the other day about how ai helps blind people navigate the world and yeah ai is largely slop but you know

food for thought

humbling to see a blind person walking along the waterfront with their ai glasses describing the scene to them in real time

So I am being taxed but I think for the wrong reasons. Still.

Deeply embarrassing for domcum that he was once in the heart of government and now panders to the gargoyles for pennies.
Seems probably bad that this guy was functioning as a shadow PM at one stage

Anyway, I’m watching Master and Commander. It does make me wish I’d bothered to read the rest of the Aubrey/Maturin books.

I think the worst thing about the Ukraine deal, apart from everything else, is that it clearly just sets Russia up to have another pop a few years later.

Has anyone seen Maurice Glasman smile

I know Goalhanger branding is stupid, but I mean, it clearly works. If I hear a podcast title preceded by ‘The Rest is’, I immediately know I’m going to avoid it at all costs

Nice rule that also worked on twitter: anyone who states - usually with pride - in their bio that they block people is both unpleasant and dull.

I see these far right people having a right whine about the current government and I really wish they’d done something for them to actually whine about

This would be hilarious.
Verdict of one Labour grandee I just bumped into: “Ed Miliband is the person most likely to be the most next Prime Minister”.

It turns out I love those paradox strategy games - crusader kings, europa universalis et al - and it’s really good to switch my brain off after a stressful day at work (ie most days), but it’s just so all consuming.
