Dear foreign nationals in war-torn countries, terrorism hot-spots, and amidst our enemies:

If you help the United States, we’ll fuck you over and abandon you. Not the individual servicepeople or intelligence officers — they’ll fight for you. I mean the depraved, soulless leadership of the nation.
So now they’re going to be doing individualized re-review of tens of thousands of Afghan evacuees’ cases on TOP of the re-review of 200,000+ refugees who entered under Biden?

With everything else going on in the world, it’s easy to forget that the opioid crisis hasn’t gone away.
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services responded to 54 overdoses last Friday - the most in a single day in the department's history. Averaged 16 per day in May.

There has been a surge in ODs reported all across the province in the past few weeks.

Only one rich democracy regularly experiences mass shootings. Instead of addressing the obvious problem, it invents a multi-billion-dollar industry that profits from traumatizing a generation of children, telling them that gun violence is natural and unavoidable.

More Orphan Black. I was disappointed that Orphan Black: Echoes only lasted one season.
I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

I’ve been in a room with Putin. He calls Ukrainians “Russians with accents.” His real fear isn’t NATO expansion, it’s democracy expansion. It shatters his entire argument for dictatorship at home. Because if Ukrainians embrace freedom, Russians may demand the same.

Douthat's pitch boils down to “resistance is futile.” The U.S. invaded Canada in 1775, and first used punitive tariffs as an economic weapon in the 1890s, but it takes some chutzpah to advocate Canada joining the U.S. while living in the Trump dumpster fire.

No worries, nobody wants to visit the U.S. as long as Trump's in charge anyway.
The Trump administration announced that starting Jan. 1, the cost of an annual national park pass for non-U.S. residents will jump from $80 to $250 more than triple the current price.

Witkoff is a dangerous idiot. Putin is unambiguously a bad guy. He unilaterally launched an imperial war of conquest in Europe, redrawing borders at gunpoint because he's butt-hurt about the collapse of the Soviet empire.
"I don't regard Putin as a bad guy."

- U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff

This should send shivers down the spine of Republican and Democratic members of Congress alike.

It's a 'perspective' not capable of negotiating for true U.S. interests.

Trump's worldview is that there are three imperial powers, each dominating their sphere of influence. As far as he’s concerned, Putin and Xi are his allies and the rest of us are expected to fall in line. He would never defend Taiwan, in the same way that he was never going to defend Ukraine.
"Abandon Ukraine to save our powder for China" was always either for cynics or useful idiots.

The US defined the postwar world, and the Pax Americana kept great power wars at bay for 80 years. Historical currents were already threatening that long peace: lack of living memory of great power wars and a rising China. Trump's hatred of the western alliance is only accelerating those trends.
