Nagbe goes down as an absolute legend of the U.S. game.

I'll miss watching him, though maybe not quite as much as Diego Valeri, who said this of the four-time MLS Cup winner:

"If I ever have grandchildren and they ask about soccer in the United States, I will tell them that I played with him."
felipecardenas.bsky.social
Darlington Nagbe decided over the summer that 2025 would be his last season in MLS. He stayed quiet about until today.

Nagbe, and those closest to him, spoke to The Athletic about his decision and the emotional conflicts of his announcement.

It's hard to overstate just how much more Inter Miami can look like a normal, functioning soccer team without Jordi Alba on the field.

Legend of the game. Elite attacking presence. Offers less than zero defensively at this stage.

Potential for much better balance in '26.

Ernst Tanner is a top Sporting Director 🔝
joeclowery.bsky.social
Six weeks into the year, Ernst Tanner confidently told me that his controversial head coaching change was "the right thing".

On Saturday, the Philadelphia Union lifted the Supporters' Shield.

For @backheeled.com, I examined what's made the Union so darn good.

“We made the change and it turned out to be the right thing."

Ernst Tanner made an unpopular decision by firing Jim Curtin — and now his Philadelphia Union are Shield winners 🛡️

With clear style + top-tier recruitment, Philly are on top. For @backheeled.com ⤵️

We had ourselves a great @opencup.ussoccer.com final between Nashville and Austin 🏆

Nashville was given an opportunity to win a trophy this and took it seriously. Well deserved 💪

The healthy absences are especially notable here as the World Cup nears:

No Musah, no Scally, no Sargent.

Poch's roster for next summer is coming into focus.

October is officially on! 🫡

26 players have been called into camp for upcoming matches against Ecuador and Australia! 👇

Love this, Steve. Awesome stuff.

Nashville SC are well-deserving U.S. Open Cup winners 🏆

Their improvement under BJ Callaghan this year has been nothing short of remarkable -- they're now one of the best teams in the country.

I enjoyed @usltactics.com's analysis from last night's final 🆓

So enjoyed hopping on with Drew to talk David Lee and SKC.

Very thankful to @joeclowery.bsky.social for jumping on with me for a quick discussion on new SKC CSO David Lee. We’ll still have a proper pod with Cody and I breaking it down out later, but I wanted to get some other input from around the league as well!

And, of course, handing a seven-year(!) contract is a pretty darn good way to lure away another club's CSO!
joeclowery.bsky.social
That Lee left NYCFC (closer to trophies + stadium) for SKC is notable.

Job title bump, yes. But the SKC job was attractive to many high-level people. An inclination that ownership will spend across the club like we never before?

Plus, gobs of expansion-esque roster flexibility.
joeclowery.bsky.social
SKC fans should be pleased with the David Lee hire.

While it's difficult to know how much of NYCFC's success during Lee's time there stemmed from his roster-building nous vs. CFG's resources, he's got plenty of experience in a recruiting machine.

Now the coach hire + roster rebuild begins.
jeffreycarlisle.bsky.social
Sources tell ESPN that #SportingKC has hired #NYCFC sporting director David Lee to be its new president of soccer operations and GM. Lee will report directly to ownership.
joeclowery.bsky.social
I'm sure FC Dallas would want a big-time fee, but I'd be shocked if MLS teams weren't sniffing around Petar Musa this winter in hopes of acquiring him in a cashfer.
armankafai.bsky.social
If FC Dallas wasn’t so low in the table, we’d be talking about Petar Musa as an MVP candidate. When it comes to the definition of MVP for a team, he’s almost the perfect example. Leads the team in scoring by an insane margin, leads them in npxG, basically leads the team in xA.
