The brain tricks us constantly. It mistakes scrolling and "seeking information" for DOING THINGS. That is not doing. You have to act.

Please buy this book and read it. The system is rigged against non-White American citizens. Soss’s prior book describes vividly how policy penalizes the poor. At 30% off, brilliance at a bargain!

Just finished the intro to this book (Legal Plunder) and I can already tell it’s gonna be a good one. @joshpage.bsky.social & @joesoss.bsky.social are diving deep into how the government and businesses use policing, punishment, and immigrant detention to extract revenues from communities.

I hope you keep it up. I think we need beauty to sustain ourselves in hard times. Music, comedy, literature... all the arts. We're fighting many things at once, including the risk of losing touch with our own humanity, which we need in order to recognize and fight inhumanity in the broader world.

You can never bend the knee enough to appease an authoritarian bully.

This is a devastating blow to academic freedom & freedom of speech at Columbia.

Never in the history of this nation has there been an administration so intent on the utter destruction of higher education as we know it.

I want to be clear: this is what American prisons are like.

I spent years posting about the humanitarian crisis in U.S. prisons. The criminal legal system consigns Americans who are incarcerated to live like this FOR YEARS. DECADES.
