In 1975, Ann Arbor was the 1st city in the US to use Ranked Choice Voting to elect a mayor. Dr. Wheeler was the 1st Black tenured professor at the University of Michigan and only Black #A2Council mayor to date. But just months later, opponents moved to repeal RCV and silence the will of the voters:

Hart is a special place for Michigan latinos. Many of us have family from there.

I'm a proud son of Oceana County, born in Shelby.

It's currently a one-party county for most offices, but it wasn't always like that.

With Ranked Choice Voting we can bring back choices for voters in rural Michigan.

Thank you to all who joined yesterday's town hall, and to Rep. Rheingans for sharing her public health expertise. We discussed how skyrocketing premiums threaten us all and what we can do about it. As costs rise we need leaders ready to protect access to quality, affordable care.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

I once read a really good paper that talked about the history of zoning and has this graph with timelines including Berkeleys single family ordinance. Anyone have a link to this?

Today was meaningful. Witnessing this history allows us to trace the origins of injustice and oppression. Honoring the past can equip us with the moral clarity and necessary knowledge to advocate for social justice today. We must do better. #A2Council

Establishment parties don't like Ranked Choice Voting because they both benefit from a polarized system, which only gives the illusion of choice.

Ranked Choice Voting empowers each vote, and gives us better choices!

Ranked choice voting in the Presidential election would've resulted in Trump's defeat. Ranked choice voting makes everyone's vote count & would allow people not in swing states to have a meaningful stake in elections.

Helping me get the word out next week would be a tremendous favor!

The entire intent of this department was built around two other departments (CIA and FBI) not talking well enough with each other, and then 9/11 happened. So, the "solution" was to create a new department that also happened to justify a surveillance state within our borders.
