Transgender men's invisibility is violent erasure. Sam Nordquist, a 24-year-old transgender man, was tortured for over a month to death, and his slaughter is not being considered a hate crime. The media has gone to disgusting lengths to minimize Sam's transgender identity. Hardly anyone is outraged.

The truth is that when you actually ask trans men about our experiences of violence, we suffer victimization at comparable rates to trans women. Nothing about being trans *men* makes us safer, as some people like to assert.

Op-ed: Trans Men Experience Far More Violence Than Most People Assume
Boys Do Cry: When we expand violence data beyond hate crimes, it's clear that trans men are targeted at comparable rates to trans women.

I hate to break it to everyone but queer people and even other trans people, even some trans men, regularly claim trans men don't suffer from transphobic oppression and violence because of the kind of erasure that's happening to Sam Nordquist in death.

People are more interested in seeing trans men as betrayers and corruptions of femininity, there aren't any real methods people want to reconcile with trans men. Trans men are not really interested in spurning womanhood, they're interested in rejecting societal coercion, to reinvent masculinity

Just because something has a scientific explanation doesn’t make it any less numinous. Corvids speaking in the voices of the dead only further solidifies their place as psychopomps and carriers of the dead across folk traditions and mythologies of peoples they share range/contact with.
"In fact, this woman and her talking raven have a theory that the species' love of mimicry may be what is fueling most legends of spooky happenings in woods and other wild places."

First I tried coming out in the mid-80s. Then again when I was in high school. I graduated in ‘99 and by 2000 I was living two separate lives, one of which was secret. Due to financial and safety reasons I didn’t start physically transitioning until 2021. Been in med debt most of adult life.
All i’m saying is that in a world without all the active transphobia of the 1990s you’d have had a bunch more trans folks in the 2000s instead of a bunch of 30/40 year olds coming out now

There it fucking is.
Please note the police are misgendering Sam Nordquist. One reason violence against trans men is invisible is because it's often treated as violence against women.
Yahoo [Feb 13] -- **TRIGGER WARNING**

NYS Police charged 5 people w/ violently assaulting 24 y/o Black trans man Sam Nordquist for a month before discarding his body in a field, describing it as "beyond depraved."

Rest In Peace, Sam. You are not forgotten.

We need to look out for us, because no one else will.
I will never go a day in my life without remembering Sam Nordquist. The entirety of the world's apology and grief could not make up for this. My rage is piercing and overwhelming. Agony doesn't begin to describe it. Until the day I die I will never abandon my transgender brothers.

I’m struggling so hard. I feel like I’m only barely keeping my nose above water. I’m really not okay but trying very hard to be. Or at least, be functional. I still have to dance for my supper, even if both feet feel broken. I am so, bone-deep exhausted.

You can always choose not to be a fucking plague rat 🤷🏻‍♂️
It’s never too late to start masking again.

Repeat covid infections are not inevitable, no matter how much the government tries to say they are.

When you wear a mask you help normalize them as public health tools. You make mask bans harder.

You increase disability visibility, which we need now

Your words and reblogs are absolutely empty if not backed up by visible action. But at least it tells me exactly who can be trusted to put their money where their mouth is. WEAR. A. MASK.
You want to be more involved in community care? Wear a mask. You want to be an ally for the most vulnerable like disabled people and people of color? Wear a mask. You talk about revolution but it means nothing if you’re not masking. By masking, you’re preventing death and disability.
