In my experience those who are very eager to ascribe various negative bad faith traits to others that no-one ascribes to themselves (cognitive dissonance, Dunning-Kruger, susceptibility to brainwashing etc) are those we are safest to assume the worst of.

This imagines that people aren't aware of who they fancy, rather than it being one of the most obvious things that we all experience.

Most people are probably bi, or put another way they have the capacity to be attracted to more people than they believe. Also maybe it's just a couple of people - that's still bisexuality. Bi doesn't mean 50/50.

Each poppy is an act of remembrance from a working class community to a local individual who gave everything to help save civilisation. A promise both to remember the sacrifices made for us, and that we won't forget our obligation to build a better society in their name.

The biggest possible gift to the Reform wankers isn't that Britain's working class think sneery cunts like you hold them in contempt. It's that they're right. You do. Farage couldn't choose better enablers.

What the fuck are you on about? The pit shut over 35 years ago, the pit killed my Dad, no fucker wants the pits back. Yes, middle class sneering at working class expressions of patriotism and pride is a *massive* cause of the Reform backlash. Anyone who doesn't see it is thick as mincemeat.

Very practical though, in case anyone got lost while out shopping, and nearly accidentally disturbed the President doing all his important imagining things.

To which I hope she'd say "My efforts go into representing the people of Houghton & Sunderland South, and being Women and Equalities minister, not working out which answer will please very online folk who couldn't themselves write a biography of Mamdami that would stretch to three tweets."

"Well Sophie, it seems US politics is like a fridge-freezer being rocked back and forth until their democracy ends when it tips. Those currently pushing think it brilliant they're seemingly winning, without considering the possibility they're just adding momentum for the other side's next shove."

Now I know that social media is full of people with a superficial gist of something pretending that they have a depth of understanding, but I wouldn't expect a government minister to do the same on telly.

I do follow twitter, I'm one of the % that follows UK politics closely. I know the gist of NY as I'm sure any of that % does. I am not remotely well informed enough to comment on it in anything other than a superficial level, and if I was a minister I wouldn't think it my job to be otherwise.

Fun fact: Middle class folk sneering at working class remembrance of those from our communities who sacrifice everything to save democracy is one direct cause of the "stick a flag on a lamppost" lot's reaction. The Legion is one of the hubs of Warsop, my former pit-village
