The Russian economy is on its knees. So, Putin might well agree to some kind of peace plan to give him time to rebuild until he can reignite the war. Dictators can only survive if they keep their countries perpetually at war and invoke a feeling of patriotism.

A disturbing update to this story: Despite the fact that he was about to be released from a US prison after completing a sentence here, when Kelvin Membreño was deported to El Salvador he was sent to CECOT prison and remains there. The family has not heard from him since.

Btw, why the western analytical community and the Pentagon, etc, are all trying to say Ukraine’s big problem is that they have not drafted all their people and sent them to the front, is because they are trying to shift responsibility away from their own terrible failures.
