the CBC was founded as a bulwark against US cultural imperialism, to ensure we had canadian news and canadian culture.

there should be a renewed emphasis on that mandate, particularly to stop reporting so much on what happens in the US for eyeballs and ad dollars.

I’m glad that Andrew Coyne mentioned that minority governments are not inherently unstable. If you take away Joe Clark in 1979, they last a little over two years on average. A government can get a decent amount of legislation through if they wanted in that period.

I am a bit sympathetic. They need to keep the audience engaged, the narrative clean and not overwhelm viewers with too many details. Conflating ‘leading’, and ‘won’ is one way to do it, but it oversimplifies.
