Ok so I reviewed RENTAL FAMILY and really dug it despite some truly glaring flaws. As someone who couldn’t finish BEEF, I’m enamored with how HIKARI brings about these Ted Lasso type characters in settings that are actually believable and low-key depressing…
‘Rental Family’ review: Brendan Fraser gets emotionally reimbursed
The Oscar-winner stars in Hikari's 'Rental Family,' a tender Tokyo dramedy about quiet connections and finding purpose in unexpected places.

the most impressive thing to me about NOBODY WANTS THIS as a show is that despite a decent amount of time in between seasons (and only a handful of episodes in each one) I am invested enough in this low-stakes world to retain a TON of the details and character nuances

i wrote a gentrification horror story where a broke copywriter invents fake families for a redevelopment company and then watches them become real. definitely not based on a true story, for sure!

it's called LITTLE GOOD PEOPLE and hey look at that you can read it for free!

“New Epstein Emails Reignite an Old Debate. Here’s Why That’s Bad News for Zohran Mamdani.”
Whether it's Hillary Clinton sharing risotto tips on a private server or Donald Trump murdering Jeffrey Epstein to cover up his sex crimes, both candidates went to great lengths to hide their most dangerous secrets.

Look, Donald Trump may have had a lengthy, well documented friendship with America’s most famous pedophile, and he may have spent decades giving quotes like “if there’s one thing I love, its beautiful girls—young ones, too,” but I just need 4-5 more drops of damning evidence to buy these accusations

so they’re going with the nuh uh defense
Weija: Did the president ever spend hours at Jeffrey Epstein's house with a victim?

Leavitt: These emails prove absolutely nothing other than the fact that president trump did nothing wrong.

this is almost as bad as the whole tan suit thing
A direct email exchange from 2011 between Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, just released by House Oversight Committee Democrats.

BESSENT: The American people are gonna start feeling better. But look, this has been a tough period ... I think 2026 will be a blockbuster year

He thinks we don’t know what a villain rotation is and that alone should be enough for him to resign
"Oh gosh, wow, 8 rogue Dem senators, the exact number of votes Republicans needed to reopen the government, voted yes. I, Chuck Schumer have nothing to do with that" is such obvious BS.

Oh and another new thing from me. I wrote about Stephen King, an author I've never been able to love as a reader. But as a writer? I love him.
How Stephen King became Horror Royalty
Stephen King's horror endures for a lot of reasons, but if I had to pick a roundabout thesis it would be this.
