The argument that banning someone who has deliberately used their car as a weapon from driving is too severe a limitation of their mobility & opportunity for employment should be a damning indictment of how society treats people who don't or can't drive - who are disproportionately disabled &/ poor.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

This man - who changed our mental picture of London's geography - was born 123 years ago today. His plaque in Leytonstone is one of only four to use a special font (the Johnston typeface, used across London's transport network)

We've said it before. We'll say it again. Decriminalise abortion. Police checking period-tracking apps is Black Mirror-esque. Rather than compounding tragedy with fear, surveillance, and prosecution, the law should treat abortion for what it is: a healthcare matter.

This fascinating new research overturns longstanding assumptions. It finds that lower-income groups are more concerned about the environment and prefer environmental protection over economic growth, compared to higher-income groups. Data from the USA.
