Hey new followers! 👋

This is my personal account. I sometimes post about:

- photography, books, movies
- (ex)religion, misinformation/info literacy, political extremism
- business, software, community

My day job is running a SaaS company in the devtools space.

Welcome to Bluesky. 🦋

Truth be told I love that we got an anti-ICE inflatable frog this year and not the pepe-themed proud boy we had in 2020.

Yep! I walk here most days. On a clear day you can see two mountains—Mount St. Helens and Mount Hood. Love the Pacific Northwest.

Managed to squeeze the full moon and Mount Hood into the same shot.
A twilight landscape at dusk with a full moon hanging in the pale blue sky above. Dark silhouettes of evergreen trees line the left side, while a snow-capped mountain peak rises on the right horizon. The sky transitions from soft blue to warm peach and orange tones near the horizon, with layers of distant mountain ridges visible in the middle distance. An open meadow stretches across the foreground.

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

From an admin‘s perspective, it’s like suspending any other user on the home instance except in this case they are a remote user

Looking forward to seeing you Jeremy

Thanks for deleting! I just don't think it's helpful. Perhaps a more constructive framing would be "if you've supported Ruby Central, we'd love your support for [these other projects]." (In our case, HB is already supporting many of them.)

I really don't appreciate this post, Joel. You don't know what the current sponsorship agreements are, and many of the folks you're shaming here (myself included) have been and will continue to be among the biggest supporters of the Ruby community, regardless. You should be thanking us.

A generational fumble by Ruby Central is now complete.

Anyway, I'm happy that the people who disagreed decided to get up and Do Something By Coding. I love to see that and can 100% get behind it 👍

Good morning! Have you switched to the new community gem server yet? It's as easy as this:

Use community gem server · sidekiq/sidekiq@96f867c

It was a beautiful Sunday in Portland. Farmer’s markets, the Portland Marathon, peaceful protests, and some views of Mt. Hood. This city is vibrant, peaceful, and resilient. We do not need a federal occupation, and we sure as hell don’t want one.

I think it's important to read carefully: Blacksky is great, and they've got the entire ATmosphere's hopes pinned on them (which is frankly an unfair burden), and this is Bluesky's fault not Blacksky's

But it does show that "credible exit" has yet to be achieved, let alone decentralization

Update from Link. He said he still is banned despite being under BlackSky PDS cause BlueSky servers still used? :( idk

Just sharing what I’m told.
Screenshot of an iMessage conversation between Aveta and contact ‘AJ’ at 1:21. The conversation shows:

Aveta (blue bubbles): ‘If you get account back’ ‘Move to BlackSky immediately’
AJ (gray bubbles): ‘I am on Blacksky.’ ‘lol’
Aveta: ‘Wait what’ ‘WHAT’
AJ: ‘But they still use Bsky servers.’
Aveta: ‘How tr’ ‘Oh yeah… well shit’ (marked as Delivered)
AJ: ‘That’s how they got me.’ ‘You should include that too.’ ‘Decentralized moderation my ass.’

At the bottom is a notification banner reading ‘AJ has notifications silenced’ with a moon icon.

So @spacelawshitpost.me aka Link got banned. I just got text message.

So yeah. We stop saying things are accidents now?

Link of all people?

Apparently Jay said something to him before taking him down. He didn’t even get a chance to reply.

He sent this image.

This is sad.

Yeah because accelerationism is definitely what everyone on this site is here for. How can the CEO of Bluesky be so tone-deaf?

It’s pretty great actually. It’s missing a few features (some slash commands) that CLI has natively but otherwise great integration.
